FUTA Alumni Trust Fund Board Inaugurated
The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) recently held an inauguration ceremony for a new set of alumni who have been appointed to the board of the Alumni Trust Fund. This event marks a significant step in the university's efforts to strengthen its financial and developmental support systems.
The newly formed board is tasked with overseeing the endowment and fundraising activities aimed at supporting various aspects of the university’s growth. These include training programs, research initiatives, capacity building, and infrastructural development. The board’s role is crucial in ensuring that the university continues to meet high standards of academic excellence and innovation.
During the event, the FUTA Alumni President worldwide, Engr. Adeyemi Bello, expressed his gratitude to the University Vice Chancellor, Professor (Mrs) Temidayo Adenike Oladiji FAS, for her unwavering support of the association. She also serves as the Patron of the FUTA Alumni Association. Bello acknowledged the contributions of the previous board members, led by Chief Engr. Segun Faleke, for their selfless service to the university.
He encouraged the new board members to leverage their extensive experience and professional networks to further the university’s mission and vision. Bello emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving common goals.
The Vice Chancellor, in her speech, praised the FUTA Alumni Association for its ongoing support to the university community through various projects and material assistance. She highlighted that contributing to the alma mater is not solely about large-scale donations but also includes smaller, impactful interventions that make a difference.
She stated, “Supporting your Alma mater is not only when you give a billion naira project but all these little interventions the University had received were well appreciated.”
Following her remarks, the Vice Chancellor officially inaugurated the new board members. Among them was Chief Engr. Cyril Ajagu, the Chairman of Conau International Limited, an engineering firm specializing in construction and asset management.
Chief Ajagu, who spoke on behalf of the new board members, emphasized that the role is a call to service. He challenged the members to contribute significantly to the success of the board and the university’s continued growth. Ajagu commended the Vice Chancellor and university management for their efforts in maintaining the institution’s reputation for excellence.
He urged all members to utilize their individual ideas and professional contacts to achieve the board’s objectives. His message underscored the importance of collective effort and shared responsibility in driving the university forward.
This inauguration reflects a renewed commitment from the FUTA alumni community to invest in the future of the institution.
