A Multifaceted Journey: Ashra Kunwar’s Blend of Art, Science, and Activism Ashra Kunwar is a remarkable figure in Nepal, known for her work as a singer, environmental researcher, and activist. Her unique approach combines art, science, and advocacy to create meaningful change. Since 2010, she has been performing with her band, Ashra & The Parables, and currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Florida. Her research focuses on human-wildlife conflict, applying General Strain Theory to big cats in Nepal. Alongside her academic pursuits, she has organized musical tours across several countries, using her platform to promote environmental and social justice. Kunwar has received numerous accolades for her work. In May 2025, she was honored with the Top Shop Kathmandu 8848 Himalayan Music & Film Awards for Best Pop Song for "Itihaas Timro Mero" in New York.
