VieON Global Unites Overseas Vietnamese with Local Content

A Digital Bridge for Vietnamese Culture
VieON Global is emerging as a powerful digital bridge, connecting Vietnamese communities around the world through its vast collection of Vietnamese-language content. It offers not just entertainment but also a sense of belonging and cultural connection for Vietnamese people living abroad. With over 10,000 hours of content, including films, music, and television shows, the platform helps generations of Vietnamese individuals reconnect with their heritage and take pride in their roots.
After five years of development, VieON, which is part of DatVietVAC Group Holdings, has become Vietnam's leading OTT platform. It has reached over 72 million connected devices, making it a significant player in the digital entertainment space. In early 2024, the company launched VieON Global, marking a strategic move to bring Vietnamese entertainment to international audiences.
VieON Global operates in several countries, including the United States, Australia, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, and Cambodia. By increasing the accessibility of Vietnamese content, the platform contributes to the global visibility of Vietnamese culture in digital entertainment. It has also been recognized as a successful model of digital transformation in content creation.
Expanding Cultural Presence Through Live Events
Beyond online streaming, VieON Global extends its cultural presence through live events. Recently, the platform partnered with a U.S.-based organization to host the "Anh Trai Say Hi" concert in Las Vegas. This event showcased the youthful and contemporary spirit of Vietnamese young artists to the Vietnamese-American community. Held at the Planet Hollywood Theater over two nights, the concert fostered cultural connections among attendees.
At the event, Bao Thai, Managing Director of VieON, introduced the platform to the international audience and reaffirmed its mission to develop digital content that carries strong Vietnamese cultural values. He emphasized the importance of staying connected with the homeland and sharing Vietnamese culture with the world.
Several artists participated in the concert, expressing their emotions about performing in Vietnamese in the United States. HIEUTHUHAI called it "a special moment of 2025," while Duong Domic described it as "an honor" to help extend the cultural thread connecting Vietnamese people at home and abroad.
A Growing Library of Vietnamese Content
VieON Global currently offers what is considered the world's largest Vietnamese content library. It features hundreds of TV dramas, films, game shows, and reality programs that are regularly updated and produced. Several VieON shows have ranked among the most-watched programs in Vietnam, including "Anh Trai Say Hi," "Em Xinh Say Hi," "2 Days 1 Night Vietnam," and "Run For Time Vietnam."
The platform's original content section highlights locally produced works that have received critical acclaim. For instance, "Giac Mo Cua Me" (directed by Nguyen Minh Chung) won Best TV Drama at the Mai Vang Awards 2022. "7 Nam Chua Cuoi Se Chia Tay" (directed by Nguyen Hoang Anh) won three categories at the Mai Vang Awards 2024. "Uoc Minh Cung Bay" (directed by Phan Dang Di) earned actor Lanh Thanh the Best Actor award at the Ngoi Sao Xanh Awards 2024.
In addition to critical acclaim, several VieON Originals have made a remarkable impact with viewers. "Hanh Phuc Bi Danh Cap" (directed by Nham Minh Hien) garnered over 5 billion views. "Yeu Truoc Ngay Cuoi" (directed by Vo Thach Thao) reached 1 billion views. Meanwhile, "Nu Chu" (directed by Nguyen Hoang Anh) and "Tieu Tam Khong Co Loi?" (directed by Tran Buu Loc) attracted 800 million and 500 million views, respectively.
A standout among recent releases, "Co Dung Hong Thoat Khoi Toi" (directed by Nguyen Hoang Anh), currently streaming, achieved 200 million views within just one month. These figures underscore the growing demand for high-quality, homegrown Vietnamese storytelling and highlight VieON's rising influence in shaping the digital entertainment landscape.
Preserving Cultural Identity Through Artistic Creation
As director of several internationally awarded Vietnamese films, Phan Dang Di emphasizes the importance of preserving cultural identity through the journey of artistic creation. At a time when global streaming platforms often prioritize mass appeal, he sees producing original Vietnamese content as a way to safeguard and pass on national heritage.
"Staying committed to Vietnamese stories is not only an artistic choice, it is a cultural responsibility. It's how we affirm our place in the global creative landscape," he said. He shared his pride in having "Uoc Minh Cung Bay" featured on VieON Global. After the film aired, he received an emotional message from a former student, now a film lecturer at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, who had watched the movie from the U.S.
"She told me she cried watching the story of a poor Vietnamese neighborhood, so rich in atmosphere and authenticity. Moments like this, when a viewer halfway across the world feels such a strong emotional connection, that's the greatest reward for any filmmaker," he said. "I hope VieON Global continues to bring Vietnamese stories to our people worldwide, so no matter where they live, they can stay close to their homeland and roots."
Future Plans and Global Expansion
Looking ahead, VieON Global plans to expand its international reach, invest in creative projects with a distinct Vietnamese identity, and strengthen global partnerships. The platform aims to become a key player in building a sustainable content industry and serve as a digital cultural link between Vietnam and its diaspora worldwide.
Global audiences can now access top-quality, hit Vietnamese entertainment content on VieON Global.
