NAHCO Invests in High-Value Equipment to Boost National Operations

NAHCO Aviance Expands Its Ground Support Equipment Fleet
Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO Aviance) has recently taken another significant step in enhancing its operational capabilities by commissioning and deploying a new batch of high-value ground support equipment (GSE). This move marks a critical phase in the company's ongoing efforts to modernize its services across the country.
At the event, Dr. Seinde Oladapo Fadeni, Chairman of the Board of Directors, emphasized the company’s commitment to ensuring that it is fully equipped with the necessary tools by the end of 2026. He explained that the process of acquiring these new pieces of equipment began last year but faced some challenges due to production and shipping delays from the manufacturer.
Fadeni highlighted that the investment in GSE is not only for the benefit of the company or its customers but also for the well-being of its employees. “The essence of these equipment is not just for the company alone or for the customers, it is also to make life easier for the workers. I can confirm to you that we have a lot in our cap, and we’re bringing them out one by one,” he said.
Mr. Didier Stuellet, Chief Operating Officer of NAHCO, praised the leadership for making such a substantial investment. “It’s a huge investment. We’re talking about millions, not in naira, but in dollars, and so this is always difficult for the owners of a company like this to take a decision like this; to take the best decision. This is the best decision for NAHCO,” he stated.
Stuellet added that the company is committed to a long-term strategy of complete refleeting of its equipment. “We still have some equipment coming in the coming months, years,” he declared, indicating that the process is well underway and far from over.
Mr. Charles Karinga, Head of GSE, noted that the acquisition of nine brand new high loaders by NAHCO is a milestone in the history of Nigerian aviation. He explained that high loaders are essential ground support equipment designed with a high-reach lift mechanism to load or unload cargo, food, drinks, and other items cleared for air transportation.
Karinga pointed out that the scale of this purchase is rare in the region, as high loaders are expensive and not commonly acquired in such numbers at once. “Buying this number of high loaders at this same time is not something that is normally done by many handlers in this clime because they are very expensive. This is the first time this would be happening,” he said.
He also emphasized that the brand of the equipment deployed by NAHCO is among the best in the industry, ensuring long-term reliability and service for both the company and its airline clients.
A Strategic Investment for the Future
This latest deployment aligns with the vision outlined during the launch of the GSE refleeting program in 2024. At that time, Fadeni had stated, “By 2026, we will have acquired all the necessary equipment to fully upgrade our fleet. This initial delivery marks the beginning of significant advancements for NAHCO and our operational practices.”
Since then, the company has consistently delivered new ground support equipment every quarter, demonstrating its dedication to continuous improvement. These steps reflect a broader commitment to modernizing operations, improving efficiency, and providing better services to customers.
As NAHCO continues its journey toward full equipment modernization, it sets a benchmark for other aviation handling companies in the region. The company’s strategic approach not only enhances its own capabilities but also contributes to the overall development of Nigeria’s aviation sector.
