Additional Secretary Inspects Schools in Sanghar

Surprise Visits and Strategic Discussions on School Upgradation

Ashiq Hussain Khoso, the Additional Secretary of the Sindh Education Department, recently conducted surprise visits to several schools in Tando Adam. The visit took place on Saturday, where he also chaired an important meeting to assess the progress of the province's school upgradation programme and discuss ways to enhance educational standards.

During the meeting, Mr. Khoso engaged with headmasters, headmistresses, and district and taluka education officers. The focus was on evaluating the infrastructure, furniture, and administrative needs of the upgraded schools under the ongoing education reform initiative by the Sindh government.

Key Areas of Focus

Speaking to the media, the Additional Secretary highlighted that the meeting centered around three main areas:

  • Infrastructure and Furniture: Ensuring that upgraded schools have adequate facilities and necessary furniture to support quality learning.
  • Maintaining Educational Standards: Implementing measures to uphold and improve the quality of education across all levels.
  • Support for Anti-Polio Campaigns: Directing all teaching and non-teaching staff to fully cooperate with polio teams to ensure the success of the campaign.

Mr. Khoso emphasized the importance of these initiatives in shaping a better educational future for students in Sindh.

School Upgradation Programme

The Additional Secretary revealed that 2,000 schools have been selected for upgradation. These schools were chosen based on departmental standards and higher student enrolments. He mentioned that in areas with high student numbers, double shifts will be introduced to maintain quality learning.

He also noted that the current teacher-student ratio of one teacher for every 32 students is satisfactory. However, he assured that further recruitment for Grade 1 to 4 positions in various departments will begin soon.

Public-Private Partnership Model

In addition to the upgradation programme, Mr. Khoso disclosed that 1,600 schools constructed under the public-private partnership model with donor assistance would be handed over to a company named Peples. Despite this transfer, the Education Department will retain full supervision and monitoring to ensure accountability and quality.

School Visits and Assessments

Following the meeting, the Additional Secretary visited several schools, including Zeenat Niswa Primary School, Urdu Main Primary School, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Girls High School, and Jamia Millia High School. During these visits, he reviewed staff attendance, student facilities, and building conditions. He expressed satisfaction with the performance of the schools and assured continued support for necessary repairs and furniture provision.

The Additional Secretary was accompanied by several officials during the visits, including District Education Officer Ghulam Mustafa Laghari, TEOs Ali Muhammad Bhano, Mukhtiar Ali Umrani, Ali Akbar Birhamani, Abdul Khaliq Khoso, Lakhadino Khaskheli, Raheela Memon, Wazir Pinjaro, Muhammad Moosa Kundani, and others.
