Gombe Leads Nigeria in Snake Bite Cases
Gombe Records Highest Snake Bite Cases in Nigeria The National Emergency Committee on Snake Bite has highlighted that Gombe State has recorded the highest number of snake bite cases in Nigeria, attributed to its environmental conditions. Between January and July 2025, the Snake Bite and Research Centre in Kaltungo documented 1,829 cases of snake bites, with 23 fatalities reported during this period. At the 2nd Scientific Conference of the Toxicology Society of Nigeria (TSN) in Gombe, Dr. Isma'il Jibrin, Chairman of the National Emergency Committee on Snake Bite, emphasized the severity of the issue.
