Sergeant Candidate Recruitment Fails to Meet Targets for Two Years
Overview of the RNTC Program The 'Sergeant Candidate Corps (RNTC)' has reportedly failed to meet recruitment targets across all army, navy, and air force branches for two consecutive years. This program is designed to provide military training to students at vocational colleges, commissioning them as non-commissioned officers (NCOs), and requiring them to serve for more than four years. Initially introduced as a pilot program in 2015, it was officially launched in 2020. The RNTC currently operates with a total quota of 280 personnel—40 each—across seven vocational colleges in the army, navy, and air force.
