AGL Signs 15-Year PPA for 105-MW Australian Wind Farm

Image
Key Details of the Power Purchase Agreement AGL Energy has entered into a significant Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Tilt Renewables for the Waddi Wind Farm located in Western Australia. This agreement marks a major step forward in AGL's commitment to renewable energy and sustainable power generation. The PPA ensures that AGL will have an offtake of 100% of the expected 105 megawatts of wind generation from the Waddi Wind Farm. This arrangement not only secures a stable supply of clean energy but also supports the growth of renewable infrastructure in the region. Agreement Structure and Timeline The terms of the agreement are set for a 15-year period, starting from the anticipated supply commencement date. This long-term contract provides AGL with a reliable source of renewable energy, which is crucial for meeting its sustainability goals and reducing carbon emissions. The supply from the Waddi Wind Farm is expected to begin in the second half of 2028. Once operational, ...

Geotechnical Work Finalized for Ørsted's 1.4 GW Incheon Offshore Wind Project

Image
Key Development in South Korea's Offshore Wind Sector South Korea is making significant strides in its renewable energy transition, with a major offshore wind project set to play a crucial role in achieving the nation’s 2050 emissions goals. The Incheon offshore wind farm, developed by Danish energy company Ørsted, is positioned to become the largest of its kind in the country. This initiative marks a critical step forward in the nation’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions and shift toward sustainable energy sources. Completion of Geotechnical Investigations Recent progress has been made on the Incheon offshore wind project, with offshore geotechnical site investigations now complete. These investigations were conducted by Fugro UST21, a leading provider of marine geotechnical services. The data gathered from these studies will be essential in designing the foundations and cable routes for the wind farm across the entire development area. The scope of the geotechnical work was...

Typhoon Matmo Dips to Tropical Depression as Rain Lashes Vietnam

Image
Typhoon Matmo has significantly weakened and is now classified as a tropical depression, centered over southern Guangxi, China. This change occurred at 7 a.m. on Monday, with the storm expected to bring rainfall to Vietnam's northern mountainous region. Matmo initially made landfall in Guangxi Province early Monday, with wind speeds ranging between 61–74 kph. After crossing the Leizhou Peninsula and reaching the Guangxi coast at dawn, the storm rapidly lost strength due to terrain friction and the depletion of oceanic energy. According to Vietnam's National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, by 7 a.m., the tropical depression was located over southern Guangxi, with maximum sustained winds of 61 kph. It is moving westward at a speed of 20–25 kph. The system is expected to head toward Vietnam's northern mountains, where it will continue to weaken and eventually become a low-pressure area by Monday. The trajectory of Typhoon Matmo.
