China Shares Advanced Waste Paper Recycling Technologies with BR Partners

China recently hosted an International Training Workshop on Waste Paper Recycling Technology, where it shared its advanced solutions for waste paper recycling with Pakistan and other members of the BR group. The event was organized by the International Cooperation Department of China's Ministry of Science and Technology and carried out by the China National Pulp and Paper Research Institute. The workshop aimed to promote knowledge exchange and technological collaboration in the paper industry.

The 15-day program brought together professionals from 11 countries, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Nepal. Participants were introduced to China’s state-of-the-art technologies, engineering designs, products, and equipment in the pulp and paper industry. The initiative focused on enhancing understanding and practical skills in waste paper recycling, which is crucial for sustainable development and resource conservation.

Comprehensive Program Structure

The workshop featured a variety of activities designed to provide participants with a well-rounded learning experience. These included thematic lectures, factory internships, exhibition visits, and academic exchanges. The sessions were held across three major cities—Beijing, Longyou in Zhejiang Province, and Shanghai—allowing attendees to gain insights into different aspects of the industry.

Nearly 20 industry experts delivered systematic lectures covering topics such as pulp and paper making, waste paper recycling technologies, and sustainable practices in the sector. These lectures provided participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical applications that can be implemented in their respective countries.

Industry Visits and Exhibitions

In addition to classroom learning, participants had the opportunity to visit leading Chinese enterprises specializing in various areas of the paper industry. These included companies such as China Haisum Engineering Co., Ltd., Shanghai Qingliang Industry Co., Ltd., Kingdecor (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd., Vinda International Holdings Limited, Zhejiang Hengda New Material Co., Ltd., and Zhejiang Huabang Special Paper Co., Ltd. These visits allowed participants to observe firsthand how advanced technologies are applied in real-world settings.

Participants also attended the 2025 China International Paper Technology Exhibition and Conference. This event provided them with further exposure to the latest innovations and trends in China’s papermaking industry. It served as a platform for networking and learning about global developments in the field.

Strengthening International Collaboration

One of the key outcomes of the workshop was the establishment of a platform for exchanges among Belt and Road countries in the papermaking industry. This initiative aims to foster stronger cooperation in areas such as paper production, resource recycling, and green development. By promoting collaboration, the platform seeks to support sustainable growth and environmental protection across participating nations.
