Prime Minister Emphasizes Importance of Youth Development and Technological Education
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has highlighted the importance of equipping the younger generation with comprehensive knowledge of modern technology and artificial intelligence (AI) as a top priority for the government. He emphasized that this initiative is essential to ensure that Pakistani youth can compete effectively on a global scale.
On International Youth Day, which was observed on August 12, the Prime Minister acknowledged Pakistan's commitment to honoring the youth population worldwide, particularly those in the country. He noted that the theme for International Youth Day 2025, 'Actions for Local Youth in the Context of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),' resonates strongly with the aspirations of young people in Pakistan.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the youth of Pakistan are not only symbols of determination, courage, and resilience but also key drivers of the nation's economic growth. He praised their contributions across various sectors, stating that they bring recognition to the country at both national and international levels.
He further mentioned that skilled youth play a vital role in economic activities by leveraging their intelligence and energy to ensure that development benefits reach the broader public. The federal government has been implementing several policies and practical measures aimed at enhancing the education, skills, and professional capacity of the youth.
One such initiative is the National Artificial Intelligence Policy 2025, which is expected to support the youth in applying modern technology across different sectors in line with current demands. Additionally, the Prime Minister's Youth Skill Development Programme (PMYSDP) has been successfully improving the skills of millions of young individuals.
In addition to these programs, the Prime Minister highlighted the Prime Minister's Youth Business and Agricultural Loan Scheme, which is helping young people turn their entrepreneurial and agricultural ambitions into reality. The government has also introduced technical and IT training, paid internships, and education loan programs to support student youth.
The Prime Minister also recognized the unique contribution of youth volunteers in addressing local issues, calling it an integral part of Pakistan's social heritage. He commended their selfless service during emergencies, crises, and natural disasters. To further support this, the government has launched community-level platforms for youth under the Uraan Pakistan initiative.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of collective efforts from federal and provincial governments, parents, teachers, religious and community leaders, to empower the younger generation. He emphasized the need to prepare them as custodians of their religious, cultural, and social values while ensuring they are equipped to build a prosperous future driven by economic growth and modern technology.
Through these initiatives, the government aims to create an environment where the youth can thrive, contribute meaningfully to society, and lead the nation towards sustainable development and technological advancement.
