JMG Cuts Diesel Costs by $40M with Solar Power

JMG Limited Embraces Renewable Energy with Hybrid Solar Installation
JMG Limited has taken a significant step towards sustainable energy by installing a 129-kilowatt hybrid solar system at its headquarters in Lagos. This initiative showcases the company's commitment to renewable energy and highlights the use of cutting-edge solar technology from Longi and Deye.
The installation is already yielding substantial financial and environmental benefits. According to internal reports, the project is expected to save the company up to N40 million annually in diesel expenses. The hybrid system integrates Longi 575W solar panels, Deye high-efficiency hybrid inverters, and a 122.9 kWh DEYE high-voltage lithium-ion battery storage solution. All components were designed and managed internally by JMG’s solar division, emphasizing the company’s technical expertise and dedication to green initiatives.
Key Features of the Solar System
The system is capable of generating 15.48 MWh of clean energy each month, meeting approximately 90% of the building's total energy requirements. This not only reduces reliance on fossil fuels but also significantly lowers carbon emissions. The project is projected to cut over 71 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually, contributing to a healthier environment.
In addition to reducing emissions, the system is saving the company around 34,800 liters of diesel per year. This translates to nearly N40 million in annual savings, making the investment both economically and environmentally sound.
Leadership in Clean Energy
Hussein Abbas, Head of JMG’s Solar Division, emphasized that the company is not just advocating for clean energy but actively utilizing it. “Our Head Office now leads by example, proving that smart, scalable solar solutions are ready for today’s commercial challenges,” he stated.
The system is equipped with a smart monitoring interface, allowing real-time tracking of energy production and consumption. It also features dual rooftop and carport mounting, maximizing space efficiency and ensuring optimal performance.
A Step Toward a Greener Future
This initiative marks a pivotal moment in JMG Limited’s journey toward a more sustainable corporate future. By integrating renewable energy into its operations, the company is setting a benchmark for other organizations to follow.
The hybrid solar system demonstrates how modern technology can be leveraged to reduce operational costs while minimizing environmental impact. As companies worldwide seek ways to meet sustainability goals, JMG’s approach offers a practical and effective model.
With continued investment in renewable energy, JMG Limited is not only securing its own long-term viability but also contributing to broader efforts to combat climate change. The success of this project underscores the potential of solar energy in transforming commercial operations and promoting a cleaner, more sustainable world.
