Nigerian Students Recognized in Global Student Prize 2025

Three Nigerian students have made it to the top 50 nominees for the Chegg.org Global Student Prize 2025. The award, which carries a prize of $100,000, is given annually to an exceptional student who has made a significant impact on learning, their peers, and society at large.

The selection process was highly competitive, with over 11,000 nominations and applications received from 148 countries. These students were chosen based on their outstanding contributions and leadership in their respective fields.

Profiles of the Nominees

Titilope Olotu, a Nigerian immigrant, is currently studying Biology and Public Health at the University of California, Los Angeles, on a full-ride scholarship. She founded PERIOD PADI, a non-profit organization that provides sanitary pads and education to over 10,000 Nigerian girls. Through various initiatives, including a digital guidebook, she managed to raise $12,350 to support her cause.

Daniel Itegboje is a medical student at the University of Benin in Edo State. He is also a multiple award-winning documentary filmmaker. As a co-founder of 3WM Productions, he creates compelling stories that focus on health equity, youth vulnerability, and resilience. His work has brought attention to critical issues affecting young people and communities.

Israel Smart, an Engineering student at the African Leadership University, is the founder of OneChild Africa, a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering STEM education, mentorship, and scholarships to over 49,000 children across six countries. The organization has built learning hubs, helped return over 2,000 children to school, and launched DREAM SPACE, a mobile STEM lab that brings hands-on science education to rural communities.
