TDC Company Limited Unveils Plans for 800 Affordable Housing Units by 2026

Mr. Courage K. M. Nunekpeku, the Managing Director of TDC Company Limited, has shared the company’s commitment to delivering 800 two-bedroom housing units in the Kpone Community 26 area by April 2026. This development will bring the total number of housing units in the enclave to 1,900. The project marks the fourth phase of a long-term initiative that has already seen over 1,000 units constructed across three phases in the past 19 years.

During a recent media engagement and site visit, Mr. Nunekpeku emphasized that phase four will consist of 100 blocks, each containing two-bedroom apartments. He highlighted that the project is not only about increasing housing availability but also about ensuring quality, affordability, and sustainability.

A Commitment to Timely Delivery

The MD noted that 36 Ghanaian contractors are currently working on the project, with a strong focus on meeting the April 2026 deadline. This effort aims to challenge the perception that government-led projects often face significant delays. To support this goal, all necessary materials and funding have been secured for the contractors. Additionally, Mr. Nunekpeku mentioned that certificates issued by the contractors will be honored within two weeks, reinforcing the company's dedication to transparency and efficiency.

Embracing Modern and Sustainable Technologies

Phase four of the project will incorporate modern elements such as green building technology and sustainable energy solutions. These features align with global best practices and reflect TDC’s commitment to environmental responsibility. By integrating these innovations, the company aims to create a living environment that is both eco-friendly and cost-effective for residents.

Targeting Middle-Income Earners and Public Sector Workers

Mr. Nunekpeku explained that the housing project is specifically designed for middle-income earners and public sector workers, who play a vital role in Ghana’s national development. He assured that the management team would ensure that the right individuals benefit from the completed units. This approach emphasizes inclusivity and supports the broader economic goals of the country.

Balancing Affordability and Quality

In terms of construction, the company is focusing on balancing affordability with quality. Cost-saving measures have been implemented in procurement and design processes without compromising the standards of the housing units. Furthermore, TDC is offering flexible payment arrangements that go beyond traditional mortgage and installment plans, making homeownership more accessible to a wider range of people.

Monitoring Contractor Performance

During the site tour, Mr. Nunekpeku expressed satisfaction with the progress made by most of the contractors. However, he raised concerns about the slow pace of work by Bon Logistics Ghana Limited, which was among the first contractors to start the project six months ago. Despite this, the company remains focused on completing the project on time and maintaining high standards throughout the process.

TDC Company Limited continues to demonstrate its dedication to improving housing conditions in Ghana while setting a benchmark for future developments in the sector.
