Bayern Overcomes 10-Man Moenchengladbach to Tie European Record

Bayern Munich Sets European Record with 13 Consecutive Wins

Bayern Munich made history by equaling the European record for successive wins to start a season, defeating 10-man Borussia Moenchengladbach 3-0 on Saturday. This achievement marks the second time in Bundesliga history that a team has secured 13 consecutive victories across all competitions, a feat previously accomplished by AC Milan during the 1992-93 season.

The match at Moenchengladbach saw several key moments that shaped the outcome. In the sixth minute of stoppage time, Maximilian Beier scored a crucial goal, securing a 1-0 victory for Borussia Dortmund over promoted Cologne in their late game. RB Leipzig maintained their position in second place with a dominant 6-0 win against Augsburg.

Key Moments from the Match

In the encounter against Moenchengladbach, Bayern Munich's Joshua Kimmich, Raphael Guerreiro, and 17-year-old Lennart Karl each found the back of the net in the final half-hour. This brought Bayern’s total to 13 wins from 13 games in all competitions, showcasing their dominance this season.

The home team’s Jens Castrop was sent off after a VAR review following a foul on Luis Diaz, giving Bayern a numerical advantage. Despite this, the visitors made six changes, including Jonas Urbig replacing captain Manuel Neuer in goal, which affected their fluidity against the last-placed opponents.

Bayern coach Vincent Kompany praised his team’s composure after the red card. “After the red card, the entire stadium celebrated every duel won and every save by their ‘keeper,” he said. “There were a lot of emotions — we stayed calm. When we got our chances, we took them.”

Harry Kane, who had a goal disallowed for offside in the second half, was only the second time this season that he failed to score. Kimmich opened the scoring in the 64th minute, followed by Guerreiro five minutes later. Gladbach’s hopes of salvaging the match were dashed when Kevin Stoeger hit a penalty off the post with 15 minutes remaining.

With nine minutes left, Karl delivered a stunning curling strike to seal the victory for the defending champions.

Dortmund Secures Late Win

Dortmund, who had lost their first match of the season to Bayern, faced a tough challenge against Cologne. The match looked set to be a draw as the clock wound down, but Beier’s late goal in the seventh and final stoppage-time minute secured a 1-0 win. The 82,000 fans at the Westfalenstadion erupted in celebration.

Dortmund coach Niko Kovac joked about the late goal: “I told the lads, you can’t do that to me too often,” he said. “Otherwise my heart might stop pumping.”

Leipzig Dominates Augsburg

RB Leipzig continued their impressive form with a 6-0 victory over Augsburg. Six different players scored for the visitors, including Yan Diomande, Romulo, Antonio Nusa, Christoph Baumgartner, Assan Ouedraogo, and Castello Lukeba. This result marked Augsburg’s worst home defeat in league history.

Since their opening match loss to Bayern, Leipzig has earned 19 points from 21 possible in seven games, conceding just three goals. Their consistent performance has kept them in second place.

Eintracht Frankfurt bounced back from a heavy 5-1 defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League by defeating St Pauli 2-0 at home. Jonathan Burkardt scored both goals, bringing his league tally to six in seven games this season.
