The CA Project Hosts Constitutional Literacy Quiz at Redeemer Preparatory & JHS
The CA Project, a prominent initiative focused on promoting constitutional literacy among young learners, recently held an inter-house Constitutional Literacy Quiz at the Redeemer Preparatory and Junior High School (JHS) located in Pig Farm, Accra. This event was organized in collaboration with several key partners, including the National Centre for Civic Education (NCCE), Alicia Global, and the National Alliance of Ghana Law Students. The quiz took place on October 8, 2025, and brought together students, teachers, volunteers, and civic educators to participate in an engaging and inspiring competition.
The primary objective of the event was to deepen students' understanding of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution while promoting civic education among the younger generation. Additionally, the quiz served as an opportunity to assess and evaluate the effectiveness of The CA Project’s Constitutional Literacy awareness programme across the country.
The atmosphere during the event was filled with excitement as students showcased their impressive knowledge of constitutional principles. Topics covered included their rights, the role of the NCCE, sources of law in Ghana, the function of Parliament, and the responsibilities of citizens. After a series of challenging questions, the Obeng Dapaah House emerged as the overall winner and was awarded a cash prize of GH¢1,000 for their exceptional performance.
Emphasizing the Importance of Constitutional Literacy
Speaking after the programme, Celestine Addo, the founder and director of The CA Foundation, highlighted the importance of nurturing constitutional literacy from a young age. She emphasized that this foundation would be crucial for developing responsible citizenship and encouraging active democratic participation. Addo stated, “If we hope to have responsible citizens in the near future who will be committed, fully participate in governance, and uphold the good principles of democratic governance in Ghana, then these young ones should be our darling.”
Mawuli Agbenu, the Director for NCCE for the Greater Accra Region, expressed his joy at witnessing the progress made by the students. He noted that within a short period of time, The CA Project had begun its activities by adopting Redeemer Preparatory & JHS and conducting constitutional literacy education. He also mentioned the donation of the 1992 Constitution to the school, which has allowed students to study and gain full knowledge about their rights in the Constitution. Agbenu further called upon donors and sponsors to support the project as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The CA Project: A Flagship Programme
The CA Project is a flagship programme of The CA Foundation, designed to educate young people in schools about the basic law of the land—the Constitution. Through this initiative, the 1992 Constitution of Ghana is donated to schools, ensuring that students have access to read and understand their basic rights and responsibilities as Ghanaians.
The programme is implemented through partnerships, sponsorships, and volunteering from legal professionals and law students across the country. This collaborative approach ensures that the project can reach more students and create a lasting impact on civic education in Ghana.
Conclusion
The Constitutional Literacy Quiz at Redeemer Preparatory & JHS was a significant step forward in promoting constitutional awareness among young learners. By fostering a deeper understanding of the Constitution, The CA Project is helping to shape a generation of informed and responsible citizens who are equipped to contribute positively to Ghana’s democratic process. The success of this event highlights the importance of continued support for such initiatives, as they play a vital role in building a stronger, more informed society.
