Expansion of Cold Chain Logistics in the U.S.

CJ Logistics has made a significant move in the U.S. market by establishing a cold chain logistics center in Kansas. This new facility marks an important step in the company's strategy to enhance its transportation network and improve service efficiency across the country. With this center, CJ Logistics now offers delivery services that can reach 85% of the U.S. within two days.

The new logistics center, located in New Century, Kansas, covers an area of 27,035 square meters (approximately 8,178 pyeong). It is equipped with advanced temperature-convertible storage rooms, allowing for flexible adjustments between freezing and refrigeration temperatures. This feature ensures that perishable goods, such as fresh produce and frozen foods, can be transported and stored under optimal conditions. The company has already secured Flora, a global plant-based food manufacturer, as a client. CJ Logistics plans to expand its client base further in the coming years.

Strategic Location and Transportation Network

The New Century Center is situated in the Kansas City metropolitan area, which is a central hub in the U.S. The location is strategically advantageous, as it is surrounded by major highways that facilitate rapid same-day transportation to key cities in the central region. In addition, the center is directly connected to the BNSF railway line, which spans the western and central U.S. It is also close to the CPKC railway, linking Canada, the U.S., and Mexico. This combination of road and rail transport enables the center to efficiently serve a large portion of the country.

According to a source from CJ Logistics, the new center serves as a critical logistics hub that connects major economic regions. The company expects the competitiveness of its logistics network in the Americas to grow significantly as a result of this expansion.

Operations and Services in the U.S.

CJ Logistics America (CJLA), the U.S. subsidiary of CJ Logistics, operates more than 70 logistics centers across 17 states, including Illinois, California, and Georgia. These facilities provide a wide range of services, such as warehouse management, transportation management, logistics consulting, and freight forwarding.

In 2023, CJLA launched a multi-purpose logistics center in Gainesville, Georgia, covering 24,904 square meters (approximately 7,500 pyeong) with cold chain capabilities. This facility further strengthens the company’s presence in the U.S. market and supports its growing demand for specialized logistics solutions.

Leadership and Expertise in Cold Chain Logistics

Kevin Coleman, CEO of CJ Logistics America, emphasized the importance of high-quality cold chain logistics. He noted that maintaining strict temperature control and quality throughout the entire supply chain is essential for delivering premium products. “High-value cold chain logistics requires stringent temperature control and quality maintenance throughout the entire process, making a high level of expertise and trust essential,” he said.

Coleman added that CJ Logistics will continue to strengthen its leadership in the North American cold chain supply chain. This will be achieved through a dense network of facilities and the use of advanced technology. The company aims to set new standards in the industry by offering reliable, efficient, and high-quality logistics services to its clients.
