Flynas Launches Direct Nairobi-Riyadh Flights with Shared Ticket Costs

Saudi Arabia’s Flynas Launches Direct Flights Between Riyadh and Nairobi

Saudi Arabia’s low-cost carrier, flynas, has officially launched direct flights between Riyadh and Nairobi. This new route marks a significant milestone in the airline’s efforts to expand its global network and strengthen its presence in East Africa.

The airline will operate three weekly services between King Khalid International Airport (Riyadh) and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (Nairobi). The inaugural flight took off on Thursday, October 2, 2025, and was celebrated with events at both airports. Dignitaries from Kenya and Saudi Arabia attended the launch, including the Kenyan ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Mohamed Ruwange, and the Saudi ambassador to Kenya, Khalid Al-Salman.

Passengers on the inaugural flight were treated to special giveaways, while flynas also opened its new Nairobi office during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. This event highlighted the airline’s commitment to establishing a stronger local presence in Kenya.

Strategic Expansion and Vision 2030

Flynas stated that the new route aligns with its “We Connect the World to the Kingdom” expansion strategy, which supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the National Civil Aviation Strategy. The airline emphasized that adding Kenya to its network is in line with its growth plan to connect the Kingdom with 250 international destinations by 2030.

Kenya, as the largest economy in East and Central Africa and a key tourism hub, is expected to play a vital role in achieving these goals. The country’s scenic landscapes and vast wildlife preserves make it an attractive destination for travelers from Saudi Arabia and beyond.

The airline’s strategic move also supports the Pilgrims Experience Program (PEP), which aims to facilitate access to the Two Holy Mosques. By connecting Saudi Arabia with more global destinations, flynas contributes to the broader vision of enhancing travel experiences for pilgrims and tourists alike.

A Growing Network and Industry Recognition

Since its launch in 2007, flynas has grown to operate 139 routes across 30 countries with a fleet of 64 aircraft. The airline has carried over 80 million passengers, showcasing its reliability and efficiency in the aviation sector.

Flynas has consistently been recognized for its excellence, recently being named the Best Low-Cost Airline in the Middle East for the eighth consecutive year by Skytrax. It maintains a top ranking among the world’s top 10 budget carriers, reflecting its commitment to quality service and affordability.

Key Benefits of the New Route

  • Enhanced Connectivity: The new route provides direct access between two important economic hubs, facilitating business and tourism opportunities.
  • Economic Growth: By linking Saudi Arabia with Kenya, the airline supports trade and investment between the two regions.
  • Tourism Boost: Kenya’s rich natural attractions and cultural heritage are now more accessible to Saudi travelers, promoting cross-cultural exchange.
  • Strategic Alignment: The route aligns with national and international aviation strategies aimed at expanding air connectivity and boosting passenger numbers.

Future Prospects

With this new route, flynas continues to solidify its position as a leading low-cost carrier in the region. The airline’s focus on innovation, customer satisfaction, and strategic expansion positions it well to meet the growing demand for affordable and efficient air travel.

As flynas expands its network, it is likely to explore further opportunities in Africa and other emerging markets. This latest development underscores the airline’s vision to connect the Kingdom with the world, driving economic growth and fostering global partnerships.
