Recognition of Excellence: Honoring Women Who Shape Ghana
In a ceremony held in Accra, Mrs. Hannah Awadzi, Online Editor at the Ghana News Agency, was honored as the Most Outstanding Female Journalist in Ghana (2025) at the prestigious Ghana Women Awards. This annual event celebrates women who have made significant contributions to their fields and to the development of the nation.
The Ghana Women Awards are designed to recognize and honor the achievements of women across various sectors. The awards aim to highlight the impact of women who have demonstrated excellence and made meaningful contributions to society. This year’s ceremony was no exception, with Mrs. Awadzi among the distinguished recipients.
Mrs. Awadzi's recognition is a testament to her dedication to advocacy for persons with disabilities, particularly children, alongside her work as a journalist. She has carved a unique space in journalism by focusing on human-centered stories that give voice to marginalized communities. Her reporting is known for its depth, empathy, and commitment to advocacy.
Through her work, Mrs. Awadzi has consistently challenged societal norms and pushed for inclusive policies. Her efforts have inspired change within Ghana’s media landscape. Upon receiving the award, which included a plaque and a certificate, she expressed her gratitude and reaffirmed her commitment to using media as a tool for advocacy, inclusion, and social justice.
She thanked the Ghana Journalists Association for nominating her for the awards. “This award is for every woman who dares to tell stories that matter, and for every child whose voice deserves to be heard,” she said. “I am deeply honored and even more inspired to continue this journey.
