Jazz in Rabat 2025 Concludes with Sold-Out Shows and Global Collaborations

A Celebration of Music and Cultural Exchange
The 27th edition of Jazz in Rabat concluded successfully on Saturday, September 27, following three nights filled with music that were completely sold out. This year's festival was held for the first time in the new venue of Hassan II Park in the capital city, from September 25 to 27. It showcased unique interactions between Moroccan artists and musicians from across Europe, reinforcing its reputation as an essential event for intercultural dialogue through music.
According to the European Union delegation in Morocco, the festival has become a symbol of this kind of cultural exchange. The EU delegation highlighted the special atmosphere created during the event, where European jazz and Moroccan music merged to provide three exceptional evenings that captivated the audience. Dimiter Tzantchev, the EU Ambassador to Morocco, emphasized that the festival is more than just a musical gathering. He described it as a space for creation and dialogue, where artists and audiences meet, exchange ideas, and enrich one another. This, he said, reflects the strong partnership between the European Union and Morocco.
A Focus on Original Creations and Female Participation
This year’s program placed a special emphasis on original creations, with a strong presence of female artists and memorable collaborations. Among the performances were:
- Tania Giannouli Trio with Abdelfettah Houssaini
- Céline Bonacina Quartet with Hamza Bennani Smires and Driss Nigra
- Alba Careta Group with Jazz’in Trio
- Sara Bolyki & Petra Várallyay with Tchubi Sextet
- A.M.E. with Mehdi Qamoum
- Lina Nyberg Quartet with Bab L’Bluz
These performances not only highlighted the talent of the participating artists but also underscored the festival’s commitment to promoting diversity and innovation in music.
Expanding the Experience Beyond the Stage
Jazz in Rabat did not limit itself to the concert stage. The festival extended its reach through street performances and participatory workshops led by renowned artists such as Stéphane Galland, Tchubi, Axel Camil, and Adil Hanin. These activities provided additional opportunities for the public to engage with music and creativity in different settings.
A Collaborative Effort
Jazz in Rabat is an initiative supported by the European Union in Morocco. It is organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, as well as the Wilaya of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra. This partnership highlights the importance of cultural events in fostering unity and understanding between communities.
Through its vibrant programming and inclusive approach, Jazz in Rabat continues to be a significant platform for artistic expression and cross-cultural dialogue. As the festival moves forward, it sets a high standard for future editions, ensuring that it remains a vital part of Morocco's cultural landscape.
