K-Food Surge Boosts Lotte Mart Bali Sales by 50%

Expansion and Innovation Lead to Sales Growth at Lotte Mart Bali

Lotte Mart’s Indonesia Bali branch has experienced a significant boost in sales and customer traffic following its recent renovation and renewal. According to the analysis, this growth can be attributed to the expansion of food display areas focused on Korean cuisine (K-food) and the introduction of a dedicated space for ready-to-cook foods.

The company announced on the 12th that the Bali branch, which underwent a major renovation on August 21, saw a 50% increase in cumulative sales over seven weeks (from August 21 to October 10) compared to the same period last year before the renovation. Additionally, customer numbers rose approximately threefold during this time.

Enhanced Food Display Areas

One of the key changes made during the renovation was the expansion of the food display area. Previously, this area accounted for 60% of the store, but it has now been increased to 90%. The existing 2,000 pyeong wholesale store was restructured into a 1,500 pyeong grocery specialty store and a 500 pyeong wholesale store.

This transformation allowed for a more focused and appealing layout, particularly in the food section. At the entrance of the store, over 100 types of ready-to-cook K-food items were arranged to attract customers. These included popular dishes such as tteokbokki, sweet chili chicken, kimbap, and ten-won bread. During the seven weeks after the opening, sales in this section exceeded the target by 60%.

Inside the store, a variety of Korean and international products were featured, including Korean frozen dumplings, New Zealand cheese, and Buldak Ramen. Despite the reduction in the size of the wholesale area, the selection was enhanced by offering more large-capacity products.

Strategic Focus on K-Food

A source from Lotte Mart highlighted the importance of these changes, stating, “We will continue to develop locally specialized stores that enhance the global competitiveness of K-food.”

This strategic focus on K-food not only appeals to local customers but also attracts international visitors who are interested in experiencing authentic Korean flavors. By creating a dedicated space for ready-to-cook foods, Lotte Mart is positioning itself as a one-stop destination for both everyday shopping and culinary exploration.

Customer Experience and Future Plans

The renovation also aimed to improve the overall customer experience. With more space allocated to food displays and a greater variety of products, shoppers can enjoy a more convenient and enjoyable shopping trip. The addition of new products and the restructuring of existing spaces have contributed to a more organized and welcoming environment.

Looking ahead, Lotte Mart plans to continue investing in similar renovations across its branches in Indonesia. This includes further expanding its K-food offerings and exploring new ways to engage with customers. The success of the Bali branch serves as a model for future developments, demonstrating the potential for growth through innovative retail strategies.

Conclusion

The renovation of Lotte Mart’s Bali branch has proven to be a successful move, leading to significant increases in sales and customer numbers. By focusing on K-food and enhancing the shopping experience, the company has positioned itself as a leader in the Indonesian market. As it continues to expand and innovate, Lotte Mart is well on its way to achieving long-term success and maintaining its competitive edge.
