Major Travel Firm Refunds £600k via Price Drop Guarantee
Introduction to Price Drop Protection
A major travel company has taken significant steps to ensure customer satisfaction by offering a refund scheme known as Price Drop Protection. This initiative allows customers to claim money back if the price of their trip drops between booking and 60 days before departure. The online travel agent, On the Beach, has been at the forefront of this innovation, providing a sense of security and confidence to travelers.
Financial Impact of the Scheme
In 2025, On the Beach has repaid thousands of holidaymakers more than £600,000 in credits. Since the introduction of the scheme in February, customers have claimed a total of £613,228 in credits, with an average of £164 per holiday. Some travelers have even managed to receive over £300 per person back from their trips. These credits can be used on any future bookings through the site, and so far, £189,000 of the credits remain unclaimed.
Customer Testimonials and Experiences
Zoe Harris, chief customer officer at On the Beach, highlighted the positive impact of the Price Drop Protection. She stated, "Price Drop Protection has changed the game for holidaymakers, turning booking anxiety into booking confidence." The scheme was introduced to give customers freedom and peace of mind when booking their holidays, but it has exceeded expectations by giving people the confidence to book early, knowing they'll always get the lowest price.
The Price Drop Protection scheme is set to continue into summer 2026. Zoe emphasized that continuing the guarantee was the obvious next move because everyone deserves reassurance when booking their holiday.
Real-Life Success Stories
One family managed to claim back over £1,000 using the scheme after booking a trip. Lee Johnson and Zoe Broadbent opted for a luxury family break to Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. Through the guarantee, they were able to receive £1,567 back. Lee expressed his surprise, saying, "It’s amazing. I didn’t think anything would actually come of it, it’s great to know that if the price drops, you get that money back toward your next holiday."
Another customer, Sharnjeet Gill, also benefited from the scheme. She had booked a family holiday to Dubai and claimed back £572 after the price for the trip fell. Sharnjeet commented, "It's rare to find companies that honour price drops after a purchase, it removes the worry of booking too early."
Lisa Wilkinson also managed to claim £370.81 when the price of her holiday dropped after booking. She said, "We knew about the initiative, and it gave us complete reassurance when we booked."
