Son Heung-min Shines with a Brace in MLS Match

Son Heung-min, the 33-year-old forward for LAFC, continued his impressive form by scoring two goals in a single match. This performance extended his scoring streak to four consecutive games, showcasing his consistency and ability to deliver under pressure.

The match took place at Energizer Park in St. Louis, Missouri, on the 28th (Korean time), as LAFC faced off against St. Louis City SC. The game ended with a convincing 3-0 victory for LAFC, thanks to Son Heung-min’s contributions. This win marked the team's fourth consecutive win in the league, highlighting their strong performance this season.

Son Heung-min started the game for the seventh straight match, continuing his role as a key player for the team. His presence was notable not just for his skills but also because of the "Korean derby" aspect of the game. St. Louis City SC had their own Korean player, Jeong Sang-bin, in the starting lineup, adding an extra layer of interest to the match.

LAFC took the lead early in the first half when Denis Bouanga scored. In the 15th minute, Bouanga intercepted a backward pass and made a solo run before scoring with a mid-range shot. Bouanga has been in excellent form, scoring nine goals in his last five matches. His goal brought him to 23 for the season, narrowing the gap with top scorer Lionel Messi, who has 24 goals.

Son Heung-min capitalized on a defensive mistake during stoppage time in the first half. Taking advantage of a disorganized defense during a counterattack, he dribbled forward and scored with a powerful right-footed shot. This goal marked his fourth consecutive match with a goal, following previous performances against San Jose, Salt Lake, and again against Salt Lake.

In the second half, Son Heung-min attempted his signature curling shot in the 8th minute. After receiving the ball on the left side of the penalty box, he tried a right-footed shot but missed the target by a narrow margin. However, he quickly redeemed himself by scoring another goal in the 15th minute of the second half.

This time, after receiving a pass from Smolyakov, Son Heung-min hesitated in the penalty box, waiting for the perfect moment before finishing with an accurate right-footed shot. His performance earned him the MVP of the match, further cementing his status as one of the most reliable players in the league.

So far this season, Son Heung-min has recorded eight goals and three assists in the MLS, demonstrating his versatility and impact on the field. His consistent performances have not only helped LAFC climb the league standings but also solidified his reputation as a top-tier player in the American league.
