CCTV Reveals Tragic Final Moments of Delivery Rider in South B

The Tragic Death of a Delivery Rider in Nairobi

On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, Anthony Olwal, a delivery rider, was allegedly murdered in South B Estate, Nairobi. CCTV footage has captured the last moments of the incident, revealing the events that led to his tragic death.

Olwal had arrived at Meridian Court around 11:50 am to deliver a mobile phone to a client. He was seen speaking with the client while waiting for the delivery to be completed. Later that afternoon, his body was discovered beneath a bed on the fourth floor of the building. A suspect was spotted leaving a brown bag with his head covered at 12:02 pm, followed closely by another individual. A staff member briefly approached the suspects before they left with the bags.

The supervisor later found Olwal’s body on the fourth floor after one suspect handed over the bag and departed. According to witnesses, the suspects had reserved the studio apartment for a brief stay but had not paid, leaving the bag with the expensive mobile phone behind before fleeing.

A WhatsApp message revealed that a man, claiming to be in Eldoret, instructed Olwal to deliver an iPhone Pro Max smartphone to his “brother” in South B. A postmortem report indicated that Olwal died from blunt force trauma to the head. His mouth was tightly covered with a leso, and his wrists and legs were bound with rope. Police found a phone, a knife, and a metal object at the scene. Two men had reserved the studio and ordered the KSh 220,000 phone, according to Makadara Sub-County Commander Judith Nyongesa.

President Ruto's Vision for Kenya

In his State of the Nation Address, President William Ruto outlined ambitious plans to transform Kenya into a first-world country. He announced the establishment of a National Infrastructure Fund and a Sovereign Wealth Fund, which will provide innovative funding for the government’s KSh 5 trillion projects.

Ruto emphasized that Kenyans would not have to pay more taxes or borrow money to finance these initiatives. He highlighted key development projects, including building irrigation dams, constructing more than 30,000 kilometers of roads, investing in human resources, and developing energy projects that will add 10,000 megawatts to the national grid. These projects aim to accelerate Kenya’s economic growth and improve infrastructure across the nation.

Opposition Criticism of Ruto's Address

While Ruto presented his vision, the opposition criticized his address, accusing him of avoiding public outrage and ignoring the concerns of Gen-Z. They described the youth movement as a moral uprising against corruption, economic hardship, and political impunity. Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka delivered a statement highlighting these grievances.

Despite the criticism, Ruto defended his leadership, emphasizing the reforms his administration has implemented. However, the opposition remains skeptical about the practicality of his promises, questioning whether they will translate into real change for the people of Kenya.

Controversy Over the Hustler Fund

Kenyan Members of Parliament (MPs) have raised concerns about the continued existence of the Hustler Fund, following reports that over KSh 12.6 billion in loans could have been lost. The Special Finances Committee noted that funds were transferred to fictitious accounts, as some borrowers used multiple SIM cards and discarded them after receiving the money.

Lawmakers met with Hustler Fund CEO Henry Tanui to discuss audit issues, as reported by Auditor General Nancy Gathungu. Tanui admitted that only KSh 4.4 billion of the KSh 14 billion allocated to the fund by the National Treasury was revolving, raising serious questions about the fund’s management and accountability.

Rise of New Political Parties

In a significant political development, at least 25 new political parties have been temporarily registered in the past few months, with more than 30 others applying for registration ahead of the 2027 General Election. This surge in party registrations reflects growing concerns within the political arena, particularly due to the challenges faced by aspirants during primaries.

The Political Parties Fund is disbursing money to parties that did not receive funds in the last polls. This follows the enactment of the Political Parties Act of 2022, which aims to ensure fair distribution of resources and promote healthy political competition in Kenya.
