Chief of Staff Unveils Nutrifoods' $500k Upgraded Can Production Line

Nutrifoods Ghana Upgrades Canmaking Line with $500,000 Investment
The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, recently commissioned an upgraded canmaking line at Nutrifoods Ghana Limited’s culinary plant in the Tema Industrial Area. The investment, exceeding US$500,000, marks a significant step forward for the company as it aims to enhance its production capabilities and ensure product quality.
This facility enhancement is expected to strengthen Nutrifoods’ safety controls and reinforce quality assurance measures. It will also enable the company to expand its production capacity and maintain a consistent 24-hour production schedule. This aligns with the government’s 24-hour economy initiative, which seeks to sustain employment and drive economic growth.
During his visit, the Chief of Staff commended Nutrifoods for creating over 2,000 jobs through its 24-hour operations model. He emphasized that the government’s comprehensive programme for industry, being developed by the trade and industry ministry, will introduce additional incentives and efficient value chain support to boost productivity in manufacturing and the private sector.
Debrah also addressed the company's importation of raw tomato paste from China and the USA. While he acknowledged the potential for local production, he pointed out that challenges in the local supply chain remain. The comprehensive programme, he said, will work with all stakeholders to address these issues.
“In the comprehensive programme that we are coming up with, government is strongly considering value addition to local raw materials so the issue of food glut as we are seeing lately will not exist because demand is high,” he stated.
He encouraged Nutrifoods to continue supporting the government’s industrialisation agenda. “On behalf of government, we urge you to continue contributing your quota to Ghana’s economic development effort by supporting the broader industrialisation drive and actualising the 24-hour economy,” he added.
Commitment to Quality and Consumer Safety
Jay Anjaria, Managing Director and Business Head of Nutrifoods Ghana Limited, highlighted the significance of the processing line upgrade. He noted that the improvement reflects the company’s commitment to consumer safety and benchmarking global quality standards across its operations.
“At Nutrifoods, we adopt world-class standards for efficient and responsible production. We hold ourselves to the highest quality benchmarks in developing home-grown brands that meet needs of the Ghanaian market. Our products are proudly Ghanaian-nurtured from ideation to execution – born in Ghana, made for Africa,” he said.
Anjaria also emphasized Nutrifoods’ dedication to job creation and continued investment in building the intellectual and technical capacity needed to support the future of manufacturing excellence in Ghana.
Nutrifoods reiterated its commitment to consumers, stating that its manufacturing processes remain fully compliant with all regulatory requirements. This reflects its longstanding promise to deliver food made with integrity, aligned with its core values of responsibility, transparency, and consumer trust.
Government and Industry Collaboration
Julius Debrah was accompanied on the tour by Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare and other officers from the trade ministry. Their presence underscored the importance of public-private collaboration in driving industrial growth and innovation.
