Digital Platform Drives Industry Growth Through Tech and OOH Integration

Introduction to GlobeTrotter: A New Era in Out-of-Home Advertising

GlobeTrotter has made a significant impact in the world of Out-of-Home (OOH) advertising by launching a digital platform that brings together asset owners and potential clients from around the globe. This initiative, developed in collaboration with the Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN) and DataShare Service Limited, aims to overcome the challenges posed by distance and inefficiency in the OOH sector.

The platform serves as a central meeting point, allowing for seamless interaction between those who own outdoor advertising assets and advertisers looking to reach their target audiences. This innovation is expected to revolutionize how the industry operates, making it more efficient and accessible.

Key Players in the Launch

GlobeTrotter provided the technological infrastructure for this platform, while DataShare Service Limited acted as the financial technology partner. Together, they have created a solution that addresses long-standing issues within the OOH sector. The launch event, held on Thursday, attracted a wide range of participants, including advertising professionals, regulators, stakeholders, billboard operators, and other outdoor media asset owners across Nigeria.

Insights from Industry Leaders

At the event, Mr. Ayodele Akingbade, the Managing Director of GlobeTrotter OOH Ltd, emphasized the significance of the launch. He described it not just as a product unveiling but as the beginning of a major transformation in how the industry connects, trades, and delivers value. Akingbade highlighted the historical challenges faced by the OOH sector, such as fragmented asset information, slow manual transactions, limited visibility for buyers, and reduced optimization for asset owners.

He noted that the new platform is designed to bridge the gap between traditional OOH advertising and modern technology. By doing so, it equips all industry stakeholders with the tools needed to grow, collaborate, and scale efficiently.

Akingbade further explained, “Today is more than a product unveiling. It is the beginning of a transformation in the way our industry connects, trades, and delivers value. For decades, the Out-of-Home sector has been driven by passion, creativity, and resilience. But we all know the challenges: fragmented asset information, slow manual transactions, limited visibility for buyers, and reduced optimisation for owners.”

Perspectives from OAAN

Dr. Sola Akinaiku, the President of OAAN, shared his excitement about the inauguration. He pointed out that the OOH industry has played a crucial role in shaping brand visibility across Nigeria for over four decades. He added, “For decades, our industry has been the bedrock of brand visibility across Nigeria. We have painted cityscapes with creativity, turned roads into runways for brand stories, and connected advertisers with millions of consumers in their daily journey. We are proud of this legacy.”

However, he also acknowledged the challenges faced by the industry, such as physical limitations, manual processes, and fragmented access. Dr. Akinaiku expressed confidence that GlobeTrotter would address these issues, stating, “Today, we stop just talking about the future and actively step into it. It is therefore my distinguished privilege to officially welcome you to the formal launch of GlobeTrotter Software, our very own digital marketplace, the engine that will power the next chapter of OOH advertising in Nigeria.”

The Future of OOH Advertising

GlobeTrotter is not just a platform; it represents a paradigm shift in the OOH advertising landscape. It offers a comprehensive online ecosystem where OOH assets can be seamlessly browsed, compared, and acquired from any device, anywhere in the world. This development is set to unlock the immense potential of OOH advertising in Nigeria and beyond.

With its innovative approach, GlobeTrotter is poised to transform the industry, making it more efficient, transparent, and accessible to a global audience. As the OOH sector continues to evolve, this platform will play a pivotal role in shaping its future.
