Family Waits for Full Reports After Son Found Dead in School Toilet

A Tragic Incident and Ongoing Questions
The family of a 10-year-old boy, who was found dead in a school restroom in Malaysia’s Negri Sembilan State, is still waiting for a full report from the authorities over a month after the incident. The tragedy has left the family in distress and raises several questions about the circumstances surrounding the boy's death.
At a recent press conference, the family's lawyer, Muhammad Yazid Mohamad Salim, expressed frustration over the lack of information provided by the authorities. He stated that the family had only received preliminary information from the pathologist who conducted the autopsy. "There has been no official explanation from any other authorities," he said, highlighting the need for transparency.
According to reports, the student was discovered unconscious in a school toilet on October 2 and was immediately taken by a teacher to a private medical center, where he was later pronounced dead. The initial findings from the autopsy indicated that neck pressure was the cause of death. However, the family has not yet been given access to the complete report, which has added to their confusion and concern.
Salim, quoting from The Star, mentioned that the doctor noted a 3-centimeter mark around the neck, possibly from a scarf, and another 1-centimeter symmetrical mark toward the front. Despite these observations, it remains unclear which injury led to the boy's death. This ambiguity has further complicated the situation for the family and the ongoing investigation.
"We were informed by the deputy public prosecutor that they are still waiting for a date to present the case to the attorney general," Salim added, indicating that the legal process is still in its early stages.
Negri Sembilan police chief Deputy Commissioner Alzafny Ahmad confirmed that the police had completed their investigation into the boy’s death on October 14. During this time, they recorded statements from 49 witnesses and are now awaiting further instructions from the prosecution. This step-by-step approach underscores the complexity of the case and the need for careful handling.
Malaysia’s Education Ministry has acknowledged the family’s statement and emphasized the importance of a thorough investigation into the matter. In a statement released on Monday, the ministry said, "The case remains under police investigation. Firm action must be taken against anyone found responsible. Justice must be served."
