Hyun-sik's Pesticide Incident Ends in ER Visit

Actor Im Hyun-sik shared a shocking incident from his past where he accidentally consumed pesticide and was rushed to the emergency room. During an appearance on MBN’s Alto Ran on the 23rd, he spoke about his experience of trying to live longer and make efforts to improve his health, but feeling as though no matter how hard he tried, the outcome remained the same. This led him to adopt a more laid-back approach to life.

He also revealed details about a traditional Korean house spanning 1,000 pyeong, which was prepared by his late mother. He now manages the property after inheriting it. Im Hyun-sik mentioned that he has 20 apple trees at home that require careful management. However, during the weeding process, he accidentally ingested pesticide. The incident caused him to start sneezing and experience severe dizziness, leading to a loss of consciousness and a trip to the emergency room.

After undergoing a stomach wash and receiving treatment, he regained his senses. The event highlights the risks involved in farming, especially when handling chemicals. Despite the dangers, Im Hyun-sik expressed his commitment to continuing his work on the farm. He said, “Even though I was scolded like that, I can’t quit farming. There are times when I want to relax and play, but it’s a legacy left by my mother, so I can’t leave it.”

He added that his mother had always emphasized the importance of land as the lifeline of life. She encouraged him to manage the property well and live there. This sentiment underscores the deep connection he feels towards the land and the responsibility he carries as the heir to his mother’s legacy.

Im Hyun-sik’s recent appearance on the show caught the attention of many, as he looked noticeably thinner than before. His fellow actor Park Won-sook, who co-starred with him in the drama Three Families Under One Roof, recently shared insights into his health condition. On the 10th, during an episode of KBS2’s Let’s Live Together with Park Won-sook, Park Won-sook mentioned that while organizing an album, she found an old photo and sent it to Im Hyun-sik. However, he did not respond.

She later called him, but he didn’t answer. A few days later, he reached out and told her, “Ms. Park, I was sick.” He mentioned that he is now feeling better. Hwang Suk-jung also voiced concerns, stating that she had seen him before and noticed he looked very ill.

Im Hyun-sik made his debut in 1969 as part of MBC’s first class of talent recruits. Over the years, he has become a familiar face in Korean television, gaining popularity for his role as Soon-dol’s father in the drama Three Families Under One Roof. His career has been marked by appearances in several popular historical dramas, including The Legendary Doctor - Hur Jun, The Merchant, and Jewel in the Palace. These roles have solidified his status as a respected and enduring figure in the entertainment industry.
