I'm A Celebrity Updates Bushtucker Trial Rules

New Rule Introduced for I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

ITV has implemented a new rule for this year's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! which prevents individual contestants from being voted to participate in bushtucker trials for multiple days in a row. The rule, which ensures that celebrities can only take part in "two in a row and then miss a go," was introduced to provide all campmates with an equal opportunity to showcase their abilities.

The decision comes after previous seasons saw certain celebrities being repeatedly selected for trials. For example, DJ Dean McCullough was voted to do trials six times in a row during the last series, while ex-Health Secretary Matt Hancock also completed six trials in a row in 2022. These challenges often involve consuming unusual delicacies such as kangaroo anus, crocodile penis, and sheep semen, or facing creatures like snakes, cockroaches, and rats.

The repeated selection for trials has had a physical and emotional impact on some participants. In 2010, Gillian McKeith appeared to faint after being voted to do her seventh trial.

Ensuring Fair Play and Equal Opportunities

ITV emphasized that all celebrities want the chance to take part in the trials, and viewers are eager to see different people engage in these challenges. A spokesperson for the show stated:

"Show bosses are keen to give all campmates the opportunity to shine in Bushtucker Trials this year and are bringing in a new rule that after a celebrity has been voted for TWO trials in a row, they cannot be voted for one on the next day. This new rule means the responsibility for winning food is shared amongst more of the campmates. More campmates will have an opportunity to step up and play their part with viewers getting a chance to get to know them more, it's their chance to shine."

Exciting Lineup for This Year's Series

This year’s series will kick off on Sunday, featuring a mix of well-known personalities and celebrities.
