Lotte, Shinsegae, Hyundai Unveil Winter Sales for Year-End Surge
Major Department Stores Launch Winter Sales
Lotte, Shinsegae, and Hyundai Department Stores—the three leading department store operators—will launch their winter regular sales from the 14th to the 30th. This move comes as consumer sentiment continues to recover, following a "resilient" performance report for the third quarter. The department store industry is looking to boost earnings in the fourth quarter by leveraging colder weather, increased fashion demand, and the year-end shopping season.

Lotte Department Store's Winter Sale
Lotte Department Store will hold its "Winter Regular Sale" across all branches, featuring over 460 brands offering discounts of up to 50%. The sale will focus on winter apparel and goods, aligning with the recent drop in temperatures. From the 13th to the 16th, a "Fashion Fair" will coincide with the sale, providing additional benefits such as up to 15% discounts and points on brands like Handsome, Samsung C&T, Shinsegae International, and Daeyun, along with gift certificates worth 10% of purchases.
Shinsegae Department Store's Discount Events
Shinsegae will also host discount events at its 13 nationwide branches. Notably, during the early sale period from the 14th to the 19th, over 300 brands will offer discounts of up to 60% through the "Season-Off Sale." A source from Shinsegae Department Store stated, "This autumn, temperatures dropped to single digits starting in October, leading to an early surge in demand for winter clothing. Last month, sales across most categories at department stores increased by approximately 20–30% compared to the same period last year."
Hyundai Department Store's Seasonal Promotions
Hyundai Department Store will conduct its winter season discount event, "The Sale," at all branches, including the Apgujeong Main Store and The Hyundai Seoul. Over 200 brands in fashion, living, and sports categories will offer autumn-winter (FW) season new arrivals at discounts of up to 50% compared to their original prices. Additionally, branch-specific promotions such as the "Cashmere Grand Sale" at the Trade Center branch and the "Daeyun Family Sale" at the Pangyo branch will take place.
The company has also prepared content to enhance the shopping experience: The Hyundai Seoul will host a pop-up store for the Disney movie Zootopia 2 and an exhibition of paintings by Czech artist Alfons Mucha, while the Trade Center branch will feature a pop-up store for the stationery brand "Geulimda."
