PP Leader Shuns Yoon, Promises Change

Political Clarifications from the People Power Party
On the 17th, the floor leader of the People Power Party, Rep. Song Eon-seog, made a notable statement regarding the party's relationship with former President Yoon Suk-yeol. During an appearance on BBS Radio, he addressed the topic by stating, “There is no such political aspect of the People Power Party going together with President Yoon Suk-yeol in order to move forward politically.”
Rep. Song was responding to a question posed by the radio host about claims that cutting ties with former President Yoon Suk-yeol is essential. In his response, he clarified, “President Yoon Suk-yeol does not exist within our party,” and provided further explanation.
He went on to mention that there are “malicious agitations” attempting to associate the party with former President Yoon. However, he emphasized that, in terms of moving forward politically, there is no alignment between the People Power Party and President Yoon Suk-yeol. He added, “He has already left our party,” and stressed the importance of focusing solely on the people and their livelihoods to regain public trust.
Commitment to Change and Reform
Rep. Song also highlighted the party's internal commitment to making even more earnest efforts toward change and reform than previously done. This pledge reflects the party's determination to address internal issues and improve its image among the public.
Criticism of Opposition Policies
Regarding the remarks made by President Lee Jae-myung about the “Constitution-Respecting Government Innovation Task Force,” Rep. Song drew a comparison to the Augean Stables Task Force during the Moon Jae-in administration. He stated, “It is no different from the Augean Stables (Rooting out accumulated corruption) Task Force during the Moon Jae-in administration,” and questioned, “Is this not an explicit directive to public officials, who should work for the state and its people, saying, ‘The state and people are unnecessary. Work only for the left-wing’?”
He further asserted that there is a clear intention to divert public attention from critical issues such as the Daejang-dong appeal abandonment case and the National Assembly audit attendance of Kim Hyun-ji, the deputy director. This criticism underscores the ongoing political tensions and differing perspectives on governance and accountability.
