Seoul Subway Boosts Emergency Prep with 29 Extra Trains and 646 Vehicles Ready
Increased Transportation and Safety Measures for 2026 CSAT
The 2026 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) is set to take place on the 13th, with a range of measures in place to ensure smooth transportation for examinees. As part of the efforts, Seoul subway services will increase their operations by 29 trips compared to regular schedules. This adjustment aims to accommodate the large number of students traveling to various test sites across the city.

In addition to the increased subway service, the Seoul Metropolitan Government has introduced a comprehensive traffic plan to support students during the exam day. The city expects approximately 114,158 students to take the CSAT at 228 different locations within Seoul. To ensure that all students can reach their test sites on time, several transportation initiatives have been implemented.
Enhanced Public Transport Services
During peak hours, which are from 6:00 a.m. to 8:10 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., city buses and village buses will maintain minimum dispatch intervals. This ensures that students have consistent access to public transport as they arrive and leave the test centers. Furthermore, subway services will be expanded between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. to help manage the high volume of commuters.
To further assist students, 646 emergency standby vehicles will be deployed near subway stations and other strategic locations. These vehicles, marked with “Examinee Transportation Support” signs, will be available for boarding at nearby bus stops and subway stations close to test sites. A representative from the Seoul Metropolitan Government emphasized that the goal is to provide free transportation to test sites for students who may be at risk of being late.
Special Arrangements for Disabled Examinees
Students with disabilities who are registered with the Seoul Disabled Call Taxi can make advance reservations for transportation through the customer center. Even if they do not have prior reservations, priority dispatch will be available on the exam day. This ensures that all students, regardless of their physical abilities, can reach their test sites without difficulty.
Additional Measures for a Stress-Free Exam Day
Beyond transportation, the city has also taken steps to minimize disruptions for students. Construction projects near test sites that generate noise will be temporarily halted to help students focus on their exams. Additionally, transportation associations have been requested to prevent honking and sudden braking by buses and taxis in the vicinity of test locations.
Parking regulations will be strictly enforced within a 2-kilometer radius of test sites. Vehicles found violating these rules will face intensified enforcement actions. Within 200 meters of test sites, vehicle entry and exit will be restricted, except for public transportation. Parking will also be prohibited in these areas to reduce congestion and ensure a safe environment for students.
Community Cooperation is Key
Yeo Jang-kwon, the Traffic Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government, stated, “We will support traffic convenience to help students focus on the exam. We kindly ask citizens for their active cooperation.” This call for community support highlights the importance of collective effort in ensuring a successful and stress-free experience for all examinees.
With these comprehensive measures in place, the city is working to create an environment where students can concentrate on their exams without unnecessary distractions or delays.
