Emerging Gospel Artist Anxious Shumba Captivates Zimbabwe with Spiritually Grounded Music
Zimbabwe’s gospel music scene is witnessing the rise of a new and spiritually driven artist — Anxious Shumba. His unique worship style, combined with deep lyrical content, is resonating with believers throughout the country. Shumba has quickly become a name that many are starting to recognize for his heartfelt and authentic approach to gospel music.
Shumba officially entered the industry in 2024 with the release of his debut album titled Nanganai Nevhangeri Mufundisi. This project is centered around uplifting and introspective worship themes, reflecting his personal journey and spiritual convictions. The album features several standout tracks, including Zarurai Moyo and Mwari weMunana, which have captured the attention of listeners and radio stations alike.
Mwari weMunana has been particularly successful, climbing the 98.4 Gospel Top 20 Charts and gaining momentum as it continues to be played on air. Shumba expressed his gratitude for the support he has received from fans, radio stations, and his local community. He emphasized how their encouragement has helped him grow and spread the message of faith through his music.
Backed by his band, The Shumbasi Last Days, Shumba delivers a powerful and cohesive sound that blends deep worship with modern gospel influences. The group’s strong synergy and spiritual energy on stage have significantly contributed to expanding his reach and strengthening his growing fanbase.
Based in Kwekwe, Shumba is a committed Christian and an active member of Good Shepherd Ministries and the Gomo Tank Prayer Group. These spiritual communities have played a vital role in supporting his musical journey. Their mentorship, fellowship, and prayers have helped build his confidence and reinforce his ministry.
“As a band, God speaks to us differently, but when we minister, we preach with one solid voice,” Shumba explained. “This signals the order that is within the body of Christ.” He also highlighted the importance of being open to learning from other churches and attending various gatherings and conferences across the country.
Shumba’s success with his debut album has paved the way for his next project. He has announced the release of his second album, Imhosva Here Kutendeuka Mufundisi, scheduled for December 2025. Fans are already eagerly anticipating this new offering, which is expected to further solidify his position in the Zimbabwean gospel music landscape.
With his growing influence and commitment to spreading the word of faith through music, Anxious Shumba is set to make an even greater impact in the years to come.
