Overview of the 2025 Gold Number Promotion

SK Telecom has launched the '2025 Gold Number Promotion,' which will run until the 23rd. This initiative is designed to allocate 10,000 preferred 'Gold Numbers' to users through a lottery system. These Gold Numbers are special phone numbers that have unique numeric patterns or hold particular significance. The promotion aims to provide users with an opportunity to secure a memorable and distinctive mobile number.

Types of Gold Numbers

There are nine different categories of Gold Numbers that qualify for the promotion. Some examples include:

  • Numbers with repeating digits, such as 1111, 0002, and 3000.
  • Numbers where the middle and end digits are identical, such as ABCD-ABCD or ABAB-ABAB.
  • Numbers with special meanings, like 1004 and 1472.

Each participant can apply for up to three entries, increasing their chances of being selected in the lottery.

Expansion of the Program

Since 2023, SK Telecom has expanded the annual allocation of Gold Numbers through a lottery system to 10,000. This increase reflects the growing interest in obtaining these unique phone numbers. Among the various types, the 'ABCD-ABCD' category, where the middle and last four digits form a mirror image, has been reported to be the most popular among applicants.

Eligibility and Application Process

The lottery is open to both existing SK Telecom subscribers and individuals who are planning to subscribe anew. To apply, participants can visit officially certified dealers across the country or the T Direct Shop. Additionally, MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) subscribers who use the SK Telecom network are also eligible to participate.

However, there are certain restrictions. Individuals who are already using a Gold Number or have acquired one within the past year are not eligible to apply. This ensures that the promotion remains fair and accessible to a broader audience.

Announcement of Winners

The winners of the 2025 Gold Number Promotion will be announced on the 27th. Those selected will have the opportunity to claim their preferred Gold Number, enhancing their mobile experience with a unique and memorable phone number.

This initiative by SK Telecom highlights the company's commitment to offering innovative services and meeting the evolving needs of its customers. By providing access to exclusive phone numbers, SK Telecom continues to strengthen its position as a leader in the telecommunications industry.

This innovative approach is becoming increasingly vital as the country faces a rising number of deserted properties due to its aging population. Where Inc., a startup, offers a service that uses AI trained on tens of thousands of images to detect signs of aging roofs, such as rust and discoloration. These findings are then overlaid on satellite maps, helping users spot properties that may have been left unattended. One of Where Inc.'s users, Kotaro Yasue, recently discovered a two-story wooden house through this service. He was able to contact the owner via a real estate registry. It turned out that the house had been neglected for over a decade, and the owner was unsure how to proceed with its disposal. Yasue, who runs a house rental service company in G...

A Rare Case of Cannabis-Induced Cardiac Arrest in a Young, Healthy Woman A 26-year-old woman from Georgia experienced a life-threatening cardiac arrest after smoking marijuana. The incident occurred when her fiancé discovered her unconscious on the bathroom floor, prompting immediate emergency medical intervention. Upon arrival at the hospital, doctors confirmed that she had suffered a cardiac arrest, where the heart suddenly stopped beating. The woman had no known pre-existing health conditions and tested negative for heart-related issues such as arrhythmia. However, she was found to have high levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive compound in cannabis responsible for the "high" sensation. Doctors diagnosed her with ventricular fibrillation, a severe heart rhythm disorder that prevents the heart from effectively pumping blood and oxygen throughout the body. This led to what they described as a "cannabis-induced cardiac arrest." This case has rais...
