Actor Accosts Mexican Miss Cosmo Contestant at Da Lat Event

Leon Yuriar Angela Michelle, Mexico’s representative at Miss Cosmo 2025, experienced a troubling incident when her handbag was stolen by an actor during an event in Da Lat. The theft occurred early on Saturday morning at Lam Vien Square in the town, where she was participating in various activities related to the World Tea Fest 2025.

Angela reported that her handbag contained a camera, approximately VND40 million (US$1,510) in cash, credit cards, and personal items. The loss of these belongings was a significant setback for her, especially as she was actively involved in the event's activities.

After a thorough examination of the scene and review of camera footage, local police were able to identify the suspect as Nguyen Lam Thai, a 25-year-old actor from Ho Chi Minh City who was also present at the same event. Thai was taken into custody and later admitted to the theft. He returned all the stolen items to Angela, which helped ease her concerns.

Angela expressed her gratitude to the authorities for their swift response and efficient handling of the situation. She emphasized how important it was to have her belongings returned quickly, allowing her to continue with her participation in the Miss Cosmo International events. As one of nearly 80 contestants, she was part of a series of cultural and social activities taking place in Lam Dong Province, where Da Lat is located.

The police have stated that they will handle the case in accordance with the law. While the exact legal consequences for Thai are yet to be determined, the incident highlights the importance of security measures during public events, especially those involving international participants.

This event has sparked discussions about the need for increased vigilance and better security protocols at such gatherings. It also serves as a reminder for attendees to remain cautious and aware of their surroundings, particularly when carrying valuable items.

In addition to the immediate resolution of the theft, the incident has brought attention to the broader context of international beauty pageants and the challenges faced by participants in unfamiliar environments. These events often involve a mix of cultural exchange, networking, and competition, making them both exciting and potentially risky.

For Angela Michelle, the experience has been a test of resilience and adaptability. Despite the initial shock of losing her belongings, she has remained focused on her role as a contestant and the opportunities that come with it. Her positive outlook and appreciation for the support received from the local authorities reflect her professionalism and determination.

As the World Tea Fest 2025 continues, more activities are planned for the contestants, offering them a chance to engage with the local culture and community. The incident involving Angela Michelle may serve as a cautionary tale, but it also underscores the importance of unity and cooperation among participants and organizers alike.
