Overview of the 9th National Conference on Science and Technology (CNCT)
The province of Benguela is set to host the 9th National Conference on Science and Technology (CNCT), which will take place from the 3rd to the 5th of December. This biannual event, organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESCTI), aims to promote and discuss the country's scientific and technological development.
Under the motto "Angola 50 years: promoting development based on science, technology and innovation," the event is part of the celebrations marking the fiftieth anniversary of National Independence, which was observed on November 11th. The CNCT serves as a platform for showcasing scientific and technological advancements, with approximately a thousand delegates expected to participate this year.
Partnership and Additional Events
This edition of the CNCT, in collaboration with the Council of Rectors of Universities of Angola (CRUANG), will coincide with the 4th Fair of Ideas, Inventions, Innovation and Technological-Based Entrepreneurship (FIEBaT). FIEBaT is designed to highlight innovations and entrepreneurship by young Angolans, with an anticipated 100 exhibitors participating.
The fair will provide an opportunity for various stakeholders in the national science and technology ecosystem to come together. These include teachers, researchers, inventors, creators, exhibitors, representatives of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), Scientific Research and Development Institutions, public and private companies, and government bodies.
Objectives and Impact
The events also serve as a platform for presenting and discussing the results of scientific research projects. They aim to publicize and reward innovative products, services, and processes that have economic and social potential for sustainable development in Angola.
By bringing together diverse participants, these events contribute to the affirmation of national intellectual and creative quality. They emphasize the role of science and technology as essential pillars of national sovereignty and development.
Significance and Historical Context
The National Conference on Science and Technology (CNCT) and the Fair of Ideas, Inventions, Innovation and Technology-Based Entrepreneurship (FIEBaT) represent significant milestones in the national scientific and technological dynamics. These events are promoted with rigor and strategic vision by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESCTI).
Since its inception in 2009, the CNCT has been a key platform for advancing knowledge, innovation, and scientific development in Angola. The debut of FIEBaT in 2019 further solidified these events as privileged spaces for fostering scientific progress.
Conclusion
As Angola continues to celebrate its 50th year of independence, the CNCT and FIEBaT stand as vital initiatives that reflect the nation's commitment to leveraging science, technology, and innovation for sustainable growth. These events not only showcase the achievements of the scientific community but also inspire future generations to contribute to the country's development.
