Kia's Electric Stinger Concept Shines Like the Future

The Vision Meta Turismo is an edgy fastback with a lounge-like interior and a huge greenhouse. This concept car represents Kia's vision for a new era of mobility, blending futuristic design with innovative technology. The vehicle features a spacious greenhouse, which allows for an abundance of natural light, and a luxurious interior that feels more like a lounge than a traditional car cabin.

Kia celebrated its 80th anniversary with the release of this concept, showcasing its commitment to innovation and forward-thinking design. The Vision Meta Turismo is not just a car; it’s a statement about where the automotive industry is headed. With its sleek lines and futuristic elements, it looks like a car from the future that somehow made its way to 2025.

The EV has a huge greenhouse, lounge seats, and a fighter jet-like joystick. One of the most striking features of the Vision Meta Turismo is its driver interface. Instead of a traditional steering wheel, the car features a D-shaped steering wheel paired with a small square instrument cluster. Additionally, there is an augmented-reality head-up display that projects three-dimensional virtual graphics onto the windshield.

Another unique element is the jet-fighter-like joystick, which is said to house some controls. However, Kia has not provided any details about its functionality. The driver’s section, including the seat and dash, is covered in the same gold color as the exterior, while the rest of the cabin is white, creating a very airy and modern feel. The multitude of windows further enhances this sense of openness.

There’s no word on what powers the Kia Vision Meta Turismo concept, but judging from the really short front and rear overhangs, this is clearly meant to be an EV. The design suggests a focus on electric propulsion, aligning with the growing trend in the automotive industry. However, there is no confirmation that the edgy lounge on wheels is heading to production.

What we do know is that the futuristic show car is a gift from Kia to itself for its 80th anniversary. Technically, the automaker turned 81 this year, seeing how the original company, Kyungsung Precision Industry, was founded in 1944 by Kim Cheol-ho. The firm was named Kia in 1952, when its first mobility product, the 3000-LIho bicycle, was introduced. The first Kia-branded car, the Brisa, became a reality in 1974.

To be clear, the South Korean automaker didn’t say that the gold four-door fastback has anything to do with the Stinger nameplate, but logic dictates that this would be the right direction for it. Instead, the company described the concept car as the embodiment of its “vision for a new era of mobility.”

The Vision Meta Turismo concept is a futuristic electric fastback that signals the automaker’s “vision for a new era of mobility.” It is a bold step forward for Kia, showing its commitment to innovation and sustainability. While the Stinger may have had a short life, its legacy lives on through concepts like the Vision Meta Turismo.

Kia never said that it would resurrect the Stinger, but the company’s President, Ho-sung Song, said last year that an all-new, electrified version of the beloved sedan was “under study.” That added plenty of fuel to the rumor fire, and now Kia is at it again, with the reveal of the Vision Meta Turismo concept.

This concept car is not just a design exercise; it’s a glimpse into the future of mobility. With its futuristic design, advanced technology, and luxurious interior, the Vision Meta Turismo sets the stage for what could be the next generation of electric vehicles. Whether or not it makes it to production remains to be seen, but one thing is certain—Kia is thinking big.
