Meet Priah Ferguson, the Star Behind Erica Sinclair in Stranger Things

The Rise of Priah Ferguson: From Child Actor to Star of Stranger Things

Priah Ferguson has been making waves in the entertainment industry since she was just four years old. Her journey began with appearances in various television shows and films, including a role in Donald Glover's Atlanta, where she worked alongside Tiffany Haddish in The Oath. She also shared the screen with Millie Bobby Brown and Caleb McLaughlin on the popular Netflix series Stranger Things.

Since 2017, fans of Stranger Things have adored her portrayal of Erica Sinclair, the feisty younger sister of Lucas Sinclair (played by Caleb McLaughlin). However, many were surprised when Ferguson did not appear in the first two episodes of the show’s fifth and final season. Fortunately, Erica made a triumphant return in the third episode of the season, once again joining her brother and his friends to fight against the series’ main antagonist, Vecna, who is determined to destroy the human race. As always, Ferguson stole the spotlight with her performance.

The highly anticipated final season of Stranger Things premiered its first four episodes on November 26. The second volume of the season, which will serve as the finale, is set to be released on Christmas Day, while the final episode will air on New Year's Eve.

A Young Actress with a Long Career

Born in October 2006 in Atlanta, Georgia, Priah Ferguson is now 19 years old. According to Netflix, she has been acting since she was four, inspired by films like Crooklyn (1994) and Daddy's Little Girls (2007). She started participating in local plays and was soon signed to Formation Talent Agency (formerly known as People Store).

In 2016, Ferguson landed a role in an episode of Donald Glover's comedy series Atlanta. Since then, she has appeared in other projects, including the 2018 comedy thriller The Oath, where she starred alongside Tiffany Haddish.

Graduating High School and Embracing New Opportunities

Ferguson recently graduated from high school in May and shared a series of photos and videos on Instagram, including a clip of her giving a special reading as the vice-president of the class of 2025. In her caption, she reflected on her experience: "Most people are always surprised when they find out I've been in public school my whole life. I made a choice early on not to miss out on real world experiences just because of my career. It's easy to post the highlights, but balancing an adult career - on and off screen - while maintaining a GPA above the national average and still growing up ... it's a unique journey."

Expanding Her Horizons as an Actress

As Ferguson prepares to say goodbye to the character of Erica Sinclair, the role that brought her fame, she has expressed her desire to showcase her versatility as an actress. In a recent interview with Teen Vogue, she said, "I want people to see the range that I have always had [as a performer] ... I'm not a one-note actress. I've always had range, and I want to be able to show that. I think if people could trust me with that, they'll trust my writing, or they'll trust my producing."

In another interview with Girls United, part of American lifestyle magazine Essence, Ferguson spoke about her interest in telling stories relevant to Generation Z. "I'm also big on honouring my youth. I'm not rushing into anything just because I'm grown now. I like the longevity of youth. I trust that what's meant for me will be for me."

Looking Ahead

With her career on the rise, Priah Ferguson is poised to take on new challenges and roles that reflect her growth as an artist. As she moves forward, fans can expect to see more of her talent and creativity in future projects. Whether on screen or behind the scenes, Ferguson continues to make an impact in the world of entertainment.
