Moshi Moshi: Elevating Lifestyle Shopping

Growing Resilience in the Lifestyle Retail Market
Despite the challenges that the economy is expected to face in 2026, the lifestyle retail market continues to show signs of growth. According to Achira Boonsongkor, director and executive committee member of Moshi Moshi Retail Corporation Plc, this segment remains resilient even during economic slowdowns. People continue to spend on impulse purchases, driven by factors such as attractive product displays, store ambiance, and emotional connections.
Emotions play a significant role in shaping consumer behavior within this sector, Mr. Achira noted. The atmosphere of the stores and the products themselves create an experience that resonates with customers, encouraging repeat visits and brand loyalty. This emotional appeal is a key factor in maintaining demand, even when financial conditions are less favorable.
The market is also evolving as more new operators enter the space, increasing competition. In September 2025, Index Living Mall Plc acquired the exclusive franchise rights in Thailand for Flying Tiger Copenhagen, a Danish variety retailer. The company plans to open 30 branches across the country within three years. This expansion highlights the growing interest in lifestyle retail and the potential for innovation in the sector.
However, not all new players are positioned the same way as Moshi Moshi, which focuses on exclusive product designs. Mr. Achira emphasized that the company's strategy revolves around offering unique and high-quality items that stand out in a crowded market. As new competitors emerge, Moshi Moshi aims to strengthen its portfolio of exclusive designs to maintain its competitive edge.
Product offerings vary depending on the location. For instance, stores in Bangkok tend to carry more premium items, while those in other regions may offer more affordable options. This approach allows the company to cater to different customer segments and maintain relevance across various markets.
Concerns about global trade shifts, particularly the possibility of Chinese products flooding the Thai market and harming local businesses, have been raised. However, Mr. Achira pointed out that Chinese products are already present in Thailand. He added that Moshi Moshi’s products are certified by relevant Thai authorities, ensuring quality and compliance. Additionally, the company benefits from economies of scale when negotiating with suppliers, allowing it to keep prices competitive.
This combination of strategic positioning, product differentiation, and cost efficiency helps Moshi Moshi navigate the challenges of a dynamic retail environment. As the market continues to evolve, the company remains focused on delivering value through its unique offerings and strong brand identity.
