NBA Africa Unveils Five Winning Startups at Second Accelerator Demo Day

NBA Africa Unveils Winners of the Second Edition of Triple-Double Accelerator
On Friday, December 5, NBA Africa announced the five winning startup companies from the second edition of the NBA Africa Triple-Double Accelerator. This initiative, launched last year, aims to support the technology ecosystem on the continent and nurture the next generation of African entrepreneurs. The program has become a significant platform for innovation and growth in the African tech space.
The five winning startups are:
- Re born (Morocco)
- Fitclan (Egypt)
- Athlon Technology (Egypt)
- Atsur (Nigeria)
- Songdis (Nigeria)
These companies were awarded financial support and the opportunity to join Carnegie Mellon University Africa (CMU-Africa)'s 12-month Business Incubation Program. This program is designed to help African tech startups transform their proof-of-concept prototypes and preliminary market assessments into scalable, market-ready products and services. The value of this support is up to $70,000.
In addition to the incubation program, the top three companies each received $10,000 in Application Programming Interface (API) credits. They also had the chance to participate in an immersion day with the OpenAI engineering team at OpenAI’s headquarters. This unique opportunity allows these startups to gain insights from one of the leading AI research organizations in the world.
The selection process was highly competitive, with over 700 applicants from 32 African countries. From this pool, 10 finalists were chosen to pitch their innovative products to a panel of international industry leaders during a Demo Day event held today at CMU-Africa in Kigali, Rwanda.
Impact and Vision
Clare Akamanzi, CEO of NBA Africa, expressed her admiration for the entrepreneurs who participated in the program. “We continue to be amazed by the creative, talented, and passionate entrepreneurs who participate in NBA Africa Triple-Double Accelerator,” she said. “The 10 finalists and five prize-winning companies differentiated themselves through their bold and innovative solutions that are shaping the future of sport and entertainment in Africa.”
She further emphasized that the support provided by the program will help these startups scale their products and make a lasting impact on the continent and globally. The program not only offers financial backing but also access to mentorship, resources, and networking opportunities that are crucial for the success of any startup.
The Role of the Triple-Double Accelerator
The Triple-Double Accelerator is more than just a competition; it is a comprehensive initiative aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurship across Africa. By providing startups with the tools and resources they need to grow, the program contributes to the development of a robust tech ecosystem on the continent.
