Samsung unveils dual-fold Galaxy Z Tri Fold

Samsung Electronics introduced its latest innovation in the smartphone market, the ‘Galaxy Z Tri Fold,’ in South Korea on the 12th. This device represents a significant leap in mobile technology, offering users a unique and versatile experience.
The Galaxy Z Tri Fold features a compact design when folded, measuring 6.5 inches, which is comparable to a standard smartphone. However, when unfolded, it expands to a generous 10 inches, providing a tablet-like display that enhances multimedia consumption and productivity. The launch of the Tri Fold was accompanied by availability through Samsung.com and at 20 stores across the country. Notably, this model is sold as a standalone device without any carrier partnerships, giving consumers more flexibility.
Before the official release, there was a noticeable surge in interest. Many individuals queued up outside Samsung stores in popular areas such as Gangnam and Hongdae, eager to be among the first to own the new device. At the Samsung Gangnam store, approximately 100 people were seen waiting before the store opened, highlighting the anticipation surrounding the product.
On the online platform, Samsung.com, the Galaxy Z Tri Fold quickly sold out within five minutes of the sales start at 9 a.m. As a result, only restock notifications are currently available, indicating high demand and limited supply.
The initial shipment of the Galaxy Z Tri Fold is reported to be in the range of several thousand units. Despite its premium price of 3,590,400 Korean won, the demand for the device remains strong, particularly among tech enthusiasts who are keen to explore its innovative form factor.

The Galaxy Z Tri Fold marks Samsung Electronics’ first venture into a dual-folding smartphone design. The device folds by first closing the left screen, then overlapping the right screen, which houses the rear camera. When fully unfolded, the display measures 3.9 mm in thickness, making it the thinnest among all Galaxy foldable phones to date.
Following its successful domestic release, the Galaxy Z Tri Fold is set to expand its reach to international markets. It will be launched in China, Taiwan, Singapore, the UAE, and the U.S. However, specific schedules for these overseas releases have not yet been announced, leaving many curious about the timeline for global availability.
