Sunny to Cloudy: Monday-Wednesday Weather Forecast - NiMet

Weather Forecast for the Next Few Days in Nigeria

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has released a detailed weather forecast for the upcoming days, highlighting varying conditions across different regions of the country. The forecast spans from Monday to Wednesday and includes predictions of sunshine, haze, and isolated thunderstorms.

Northern Region Conditions

According to NiMet's outlook, the entire northern region is expected to experience sunny skies on Monday. However, this trend will continue into Tuesday, with dust haze anticipated over several states including Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Borno, and Yobe. On Wednesday, the northern region is again predicted to have a sunny and hazy atmosphere throughout the day.

Central Region Outlook

The central region is expected to see sunny skies with patches of clouds throughout the forecast period. This pattern remains consistent from Monday through Wednesday, with no significant changes reported in the weather conditions for this area.

Southern Region Predictions

The southern region presents a more complex weather scenario. On Monday, the area is expected to have a cloudy atmosphere with intervals of sunshine. There are slim chances of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, and Cross River during the afternoon and evening hours.

On Tuesday, the southern region will also see cloudy skies, with a slight possibility of thunderstorms in parts of Cross River during the morning. Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are expected over Delta, Ogun, Ondo, Lagos, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River. These storms may bring moderate rainfall, which could impact daily activities in these areas.

By Wednesday, the southern region is predicted to have a cloudy atmosphere in the morning. In the afternoon, isolated thunderstorms with moderate rains are expected over several states, including Lagos, Ondo, Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Ekiti, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers.

Public Safety and Precautions

NiMet has issued several advisories to the public to ensure safety during the upcoming weather conditions. Drivers are urged to exercise caution while traveling, especially in areas where rain may occur. The agency also highlighted that dust particles will be suspended in the air over the northern region, which could affect visibility and respiratory health.

People with asthma or other respiratory conditions are advised to take necessary precautions to avoid complications due to the dusty and hazy conditions. Additionally, airline operators are encouraged to obtain airport-specific weather reports from NiMet to ensure safe and efficient flight operations.

Summary of Key Weather Events

  • Northern Region: Sunny skies with dust haze on Tuesday and Wednesday.
  • Central Region: Sunny with cloud patches throughout the forecast period.
  • Southern Region: Cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms and moderate rains, particularly in the afternoons.
