Daiso's Jung Saem-mul Cosmetics Sell Out Instantly

The Rise of Daiso's Exclusive Brand 'Zoom by Jung Saem-mul'

Daiso, a well-known retail giant, has recently made waves in the beauty industry with the launch of its exclusive brand 'Zoom by Jung Saem-mul.' This collaboration with the renowned South Korean makeup artist Jung Saem-mul has resulted in an overwhelming response from consumers. The brand was released on the 5th and quickly sold out both online and offline. As of the morning of the 10th, all eight products, including the Glossy Up Cushion, Light Prep Booster, Makeup Fixer, and Skin Pad, were completely out of stock.

Affordable Luxury with High-Quality Products

'Zoom by Jung Saem-mul' offers a range of base makeup products such as foundation, cushion, and fixer, with prices ranging from 1,000 to 5,000 Korean won. This is significantly lower compared to Jung Saem-mul’s existing brand, which typically ranges from 20,000 to 50,000 Korean won. The price difference can be as high as 90%, making these products more accessible to a broader audience.

This strategic pricing model has been praised for combining the credibility of an expert brand with the affordability of Daiso. Consumers are now able to access high-quality makeup at a fraction of the cost, which has significantly lowered the entry barriers for many.

A Proven Strategy for Success

Daiso has a history of creating successful cosmetic products through similar collaborations. For instance, Tony Moly’s sub-brand 'Bon Concept' achieved over 5 million cumulative sales within a year of its release. Additionally, the Spot Gel and Cream products developed in partnership with LG H&H sold over 1 million units in just nine months. Another example is Amorepacific’s second brand 'Mimo by Mamonde,' which reached 2 million cumulative sales within seven months of its launch.

Growth in the Cosmetics Sector

The success of these collaborations has driven a significant increase in Daiso's cosmetic sales. In 2023, sales grew by approximately 85%, and in 2024, the growth rate jumped to around 144%. The number of beauty products available at Daiso has expanded dramatically, from around 100 initial items to over 1,400. Currently, 140 brands are available across various categories, including skincare, color cosmetics, hair, nails, and beauty accessories.

Expanding Product Lineup

The expansion of Daiso's product lineup has allowed it to cater to a wider range of consumer needs. The variety of products ensures that customers can find everything they need for their beauty routine in one place. This broadened selection has not only increased customer satisfaction but also reinforced Daiso's position as a leader in the beauty market.

Future Prospects

With the continued success of its collaborative brands and the growing demand for affordable yet high-quality beauty products, Daiso is well-positioned for future growth. The company's strategy of partnering with established experts while maintaining competitive pricing seems to be a winning formula. As the beauty industry continues to evolve, Daiso's ability to adapt and innovate will be crucial in maintaining its market leadership.
