Christmas in Hong Kong: Michelin Feasts, Circus Acts & Charity Events
A Guide to Hong Kong’s Festive Season: Events and Takeaway Menus
As the year draws to a close, Hong Kong is alive with a variety of events and culinary delights that promise to make the holiday season unforgettable. From traditional feasts to unconventional twists on classic dishes, there's something for everyone this festive season.
Cultural Celebrations and Artistic Displays
One of the highlights of the season is the "Simple Gifts of Joy" celebration at Tai Kwun, which runs until January 4. This event features "Circus Plays," a program that brings in high-caliber international circus acts. Among the performances are the Asia premiere of The Genesis from Denmark and the Hong Kong premiere of Spiral Slide from the United States.

In a more philanthropic twist, Upper House has partnered with artist Cj Hendry and auction house Phillips to create an art-led tree. The installation consists of 200 oversized plush green "juju" toys, each "adoptable" for HK$688. All proceeds will go to the charity Mother's Choice, making it a unique way to support a good cause while enjoying the festive spirit.
Unconventional Dining Experiences
For those looking to break away from the traditional turkey, May Chow's Little Bao is offering a Sichuan-style fried chicken dish served with a crème fraîche and ikura dip. This is just one of the eight courses in their festive set menu, which also includes a 24-hour sous-vide short rib bao and a rich bowl of chicken innard noodles.

If you're a fan of classic luxury, Hong Kong's fine-dining scene has plenty to offer. At The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, the three-Michelin-starred Amber is serving eight-course festive dinners. Meanwhile, the Michelin-starred Beefbar is offering six-course menus for Christmas and New Year's Eve.
For those with more contemporary tastes, Mosu Hong Kong provides a minimalist Korean degustation for a festive lunch or dinner. Kanesaka also offers a Christmas omakase dinner that showcases the best catch from Japanese waters.

Casual Dining and Festive Menus
Those seeking a more relaxed dining experience can turn to all-day brasseries. Upper House's Salisterra is offering festive set lunches, dinners, and a special Christmas Day menu. Just a short walk away, The Continental is providing four-course dinners on Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, and New Year's Eve.
Holiday Takeaway Menus for Home Celebrations
If you prefer to celebrate at home, Hong Kong's top restaurants have curated takeaway menus to suit every occasion.
At Island Shangri-La's Petrus, chef Uwe Opocensky has created a HK$8,888 holiday meal centered around a golden roast butterball turkey with traditional trimmings. For smaller gatherings, the premium roast turkey gift box (HK$2,288) offers all the trimmings of a five-star feast.

Heimat is leaning into continental comfort with chef Peter Find's German-style takeaway options. This includes a roast goose (HK$1,280) and duck (HK$980) with potato dumplings, along with add-ons like sausage platters and vegetable sides.

Market Place offers a 12-person Christmas Set (HK$2,528) that includes roasted chicken, slow-cooked oxtail, lobster, and roasted vegetables. The six-person set (HK$1,199) is perfect for a cozy gathering, featuring lamb rack, pork knuckle, and seasonal sides.

For those with a sweet tooth, Rosewood Hong Kong's Butterfly Patisserie has a range of seasonal creations by executive pastry chef Jonathan Soukdeo. Highlights include a Mont Blanc Christmas log cake (HK$588) and ornament-inspired pastries and matcha chiffon rolls (HK$98).
