A recent discovery by Bluesky user dootsky has added fuel to the fire. A new, seemingly unused, model code was found on a Nintendo portal that generates console icons based on product codes. For example, using "HAC" in the URL brings up an image of the original Switch.

Each console variation has its own code. "HEG" displays the Switch OLED, "HDH" shows the Switch Lite, while "BEE" represents the Switch 2. When random letters are typed, an error message appears, indicating these codes are intentionally placed.

The Mysterious OSM Code

The most intriguing code found so far is "OSM." It brings up the same image of the Switch 2. A ResetEra thread pointed out that this isn't a known devkit for the console, as those typically use variations of the "BEE" code.

While the exact meaning of "OSM" remains unclear, some speculate it could relate to a hardware revision for the Switch 2. It might be a minor internal upgrade replacing the original system, similar to the PS5 Slim, or it could signal the first sign of a Switch 2 Lite.

The Switch Lite and Future Possibilities

Nintendo introduced the Switch Lite in September 2019, over two years after the original console. The existence of the "OSM" code doesn’t confirm a specific release date, but if it does relate to a Lite model, it suggests the release could be imminent.
